First off, congrats to all my favorite bloggers who won Foodbuzz Awards this weekend in San Francisco! I so wish I could have been there…but I did have quite a pleasant weekend myself, so I can’t complain too much.
Unfortunately I forgot my camera at home (what kind of blogger am I?!) but thank goodness I have a camera on my phone, so please excuse my crappy pictures!
I spent Friday night in Houston at my friend’s place and headed out pretty early Saturday to visit the other Hawkwatch site in Corpus Christi, TX.
Their site is def different from ours as they look out over a huge ravine and have a much larger field of view also. I was excited because I got to see a White Tailed Hawk hunting off in the distance; not often I see those! It was nice to meet the other watchers/observers also! And Hazel Bazemore is a very nice park! If you’re ever near Corpus, def take a jaunt over there!
After that I headed off to one of the nearby cities and had a very late lunch with Brad, to reminisce and catch up on his travels and update each other about well, life in general. We went to one of the three local restaurants in town (can’t remember what it was called, but pirate themed!) and had a grilled sandwich w/ fries. It was ehh…very greasy, so I actually ate only about half, and about 1/3 of the fries w/ ketchup. I wasn’t too hungry though, so it was alright…but not really worth the $7 I paid for it.
I drove around Corpus and down Ocean Drive to take a look at the rich houses along the coast! I finally found a hotel, got to catch up on some of my CW shows and went out to HEB to find something for dinner. Voila: Sabra hummus w/ pretzels and a garden salad. I also had some H2H for dessert.
The rest of the night I chatted w/ my brothers then hit the sack. I slept alright but was afraid I was going to sleep through my alarm for my early morning run.
Oddly enough, when I woke up and finally looked out the window: RAIN! WHAT?!!?!??! Dangit! I had a 6.30am run planned, but I waited off a 1/2 an hr and the rain let up so I dashed out there for my 8 miler (ie my last long run before my race in SEVEN DAYS!!!) I ran at a nice steady 9 min/mile pace and again got to look at all the awesome richy rich houses! Man, I so wish I had one of those…but what would I put in it?
I had a 1/2 an apple before my run and when I came back I hit up the continental breakfast and swiped a regular and apples and cinnamon instant oatmeal packages, which I topped off w/ 1/2 a pack of Justin’s PB (the other half I saved for a pb & j sandwich that I’ll have for lunch, with ww bread I swiped from breakfast too).
Now I’m off to pack up my crap and head back to Smith Point, but I hear that the tide is up and flooded again…so who knows if I’ll be able to get home!! And I haven’t forgotten to show you my chicken waffle sandwich and my oats in a jar!! They’ll come up tonight hopefully!!
Off to drive for 5 very long long hours!!
