It’s American Bandstand!!!

Ok, I just needed a catchy title, and oddly enough that was the first thing that came into my head. :)

Anyhow, last you heard I was sick.  I wasn’t sick like, soar throat, sniffling, sneezing, coughing kind of thing…but just this massive headache that basically made me super dizzy, almost to the point of vertigo. No fun indeed.  I took most of Friday off after we had the morning off, and then the morning on Saturday…which I slept through.  Alas, by the afternoon I was doing better and I think getting some fresh air helped.

I’m not quite sure what has been triggering these headaches the past few days (had it today, MISERABLE) but I shall figure it out…I need to be completely healthy for my race (in TWELVE DAYS!!!).

This morning I was able to post an Operation Beautiful Note in one of the restrooms at the park I ran at.  I think it was in good context with all the runners that were there, men and women alike!  Too bad I couldn’t stick one in the men’s restroom!  Hahaha!

Anyhow, I only really have half my eats from today, and none from the past few days as they have been sparse.  The headache had also taken my appetite in the process.  Jerk.  Haha.

Before my run I had my staple set of fueling food: 1/2 a pb (1T) sandwich with an apple.  I have come to the conclusion that this sits best with my stomach before long runs and keeps me fueled through its entirety.

I ate while I drove to Memorial park, just outside of downtown Houston.  I looked up a few routes for my 10 miler, but decided just to wing it, like always!  I did use part of the path that goes around the park, but then ventured off and passed by Buffalo Bayou and into the Rich Homes of Kirby.  Man, are those homes beautiful!  I got totally lost in admiring them!

I turned around at 45:44 believing that I was running at a 9 min/mile pace, and headed back.  As soon as I hit the gravel paths around the park I was feeling really good!  So, why not pick it up?!  I felt good physically to do so, and had some mental frustrations to help push me along…and I in returning clipped almost 2 minutes off my time coming back!  I finished my route of 10 miles at 1:28:28 (edited to change: it was actually 10.4!!!!!!)!!!  IT. WAS. AWESOME.

I stretched as much as I could afterwards and snacked on a banana to relieve the poundings headache.  Oh, and guzzled 32 oz of water in a heartbeat.

I knew I didn’t want to go home asap so I headed off in search of a movie theater.  I found one at a mall and decided to see Couples Retreat (bad idea…some of you can figure out why with recent happenings) but first had to get some better food in me!  I went to PANERA BREEAD FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFEK would be so proud. :)

I ordered the Mediterranean Sandwich sans feta, which included veggies, a cilantro pesto (or hummus? Don’t remember) on tomato basil bread.  The cilantro whatever was quite tasty and had a very strong bite, but my goodness the bread was the best part.  Unlike most people I am a big fan of crusts…I always save them for last.  And this was exceptionally good!

And I did eat the chips.  They were alright…but I could have done without them.  They were all I had to eat though, and I needed fuel, so I ate them.

I went and watched the movie, shopped around a bit, then headed off to HEB to pick up a few fresh veggies and fruits that I needed to last me through my last two weeks at work!  Driving home I snacked on an apple.

I got home starving and very much needing to clean up, so I made what was quickest: Progresso low sodium light vegetable soup with added black beans

And a side of TLC’s, two carrots, and a kiwi.  Nom nom.

Now I’m watching Tristan and Isolde (one of my favvvvvvs!) and trying to adapt to the time change…it’s totally messed me up; I hate it when that happens!

Wow, congrats on running that far! I really want to start running, I have so many friends that do and I can barely do a mile :X
But I do love biking in Memorial and around River Oaks, aren't those houses outrageous!?
And Panera has the best bread ever, you have to try the whole grain roll like Laura said, and also get one of their bagels.
I know weather and pressure changes always give me headaches and this cold/ hot thing is getting to me too. Glad you're feeling a bit better!
