Sorry I left you after Thursday…things got a little crazy!
Lets start with Friday night shall we? I headed off to my brothers apartment with a dish that I knew I would be able to eat, and knowing full well that most things at their Thanksgiving Party would be very “college-oriented,” if you know what I mean (ie out of a box or bag, nothing homemade).
I made a nice grain and vegetable dish for the dinner, and these were my ingredients: (sans the black beans; after making everything I forgot to add them in)
Add in some spices and bam! Great dish! I mean seriously, how much easier can it get, and it only took 35 minutes, because that’s how long it took to cook the rice!
Their party actually wasn’t until around 9:30 and I seriously could not wait that long. So I dug in around 8:30, hah! I had some of my leftover potatoes from the other night and a small dish with my rice medley.
I headed off to the party and got there around 9.30, and NOTHING was ready. Typical college boys, right? So, I helped carve the turkey…(being the great vegetarian that I am)
Made garlic bread, crescent rolls, and so much else…and then we finally ate, at 11.30!!! This is when you know you’re at a college boys party…dinner that late? Pah-leeze…if it had been my party, it would have been 8pm on the dot. Ok, so I’m more meticulous than them. Still love them, and was super excited since I hadn’t seen them since LAST JANUARY!!!
I left after midnight and finally crashed out past 1am…and slept until 9am…I never sleep that late! But thank goodness, because I needed to rest up for my 9 miler today! I had an apple and pb for a pre run snack (late night dinner will make me not so hungry in the morning) and then set out for a run on the CEMENT. If there is one thing I hate running on, it’s cement…I prefer asphalt and/or grass.
I actually ended up running 9.5 miles, and not at my normal pace as my stomach was way out of whack…in 1:30:32. But I finished it without injury and that’s all that counts to me! Yay!
I cleaned up and was ravenous for lunch, but my stomach was still upset, so I settled for the blandest thing on the planet: an apple, and an Arnold's thin with laughing cow and egg and two whites. And then I had a mug of Multi-grain Cheerios afterwards.
My dad’s great aunt just had her 90th birthday so a little get together was organized and I got to catch up with a bunch of my relatives. It was nice and relaxing, and while I was there I snacked on a few plates of assorted fruit and some cucumbers with ranch dressing. There were several different kinds of cake, but my tummy was still upset from earlier so I opted out.
Mom and I hit up the grocery store and since I’ve been craving greek yogurt like mad, I was super excited. But alas…NO GREEK YOGURT. Unless you want to pay an arm and a leg for a Voskos 6oz container…BOO! I totally need to hit up another store tomorrow!
We returned home and I wanted so many things that I made an assortment for dinner: veggie burger, veggie spinach salad, few pieces of potato and pretzels flats with hummus. Whew was I full afterwards!
And since I opted out of the cake earlier I figure I deserved a little bit of dessert: Chocolate Fudge Brownie Frozen Yogurt…I added a little bit of Kashi H2H after the picture was taken…
I just finished snacking on some nut/raisin/m&m trail mix because my stomach was still growling and now I’m watching 27 Dresses. Love the lead guy…I forget his name, but he’s pretty cuteeeee!
Anyhow, I thought I would show you the new sandals that I got this week. I don’t know that many people know about them, but they’re called Choco’s. They’re really cool as they already have support in them that doesn’t break down very easily and the straps are woven into the shoes and is one continuous strap. They’re taking some getting used to with the strap going around my big toe, but they are going to make working out in the field that much easier…
But I also wanted to entertain you with some of the bling that was being sold at the craft fair; what do you think? My style? No?
Haha…yeah, I think not…I probably don’t wear jewelry any bigger than…half a marble. Tiny accessories is how I roll.
But what do you think of the shoes? New Years?
Yeah right, I’m lame and stay at home every year…ok, it’s not lame cause it’s my mom’s birthday and we still have fun with the family…
Well, I hope you all are having a great weekend! What have you been up to?!

I LOVE the flower rings :D
I remember college days, time has no meaning :)
I love the flower rings too, but Id be so worried about getting them stuck on things and hurting my fingers!
that was probably the top thing that annoyed me in college, eating and doing anything ridiculously late when clearly we had been sitting around all day and could've done it earlier. i have a seriously hard time eating past like 7pm haha
Yeah, eating late is NOT how I roll. I'm usually in bed by 11:30. Oh, boys.
I like the Choco's. Too bad it's too cold in IL for sandals. :(
Glad you got to see your brother's...even if it meant eating really late! ;)
Those shoes are great, but I'm with ya on the rings! Cute, but not on me.
hahahahha I love boys- they never seem to follow any sort of schedule :) Your dish looks fantastic. Glad you got your run in and I think its fantastic that you even pushed the distance a little. Hooray for no injuries!! Cute cute flower rings. Hope you're having a nice Sunday so far
lovely looking eats, treats and goodies!
Hehe, so funny about the 11:30 turkey dinner. I think I would have been gnawing at my arm at that point. :)
Those shoes are super cute! I also like the flower rings but I'm with you - a little too big.
Have a great Sunday!
I love those black heels! Where were they from? Wondering if I could find them here on the east coast? Joe and I are going to a ball on new years eve so I have to dress up.
haha I can NEVER wait with everyone else when it comes to late dinners...I don't know how people do it!
Hope you had a relaxing weekend, that long run sounds awesome!
okay please don't think i'm a total creepy - but you have some gorgeous hands.
**awkward silence**
love the kicks, boo! fierceeeeeeee.
Yeah, i don't know how people do anything wearing rings like that...but a little bit smaller, and maybe they'd have some potential. That fro-yo looks mighty good! Got me jones-ing.
xo
Love the cute sandals! I'd chose those over high heels any day!
And those pretzel flats? Like crack in my house - I can never stop at one serving!!
Sounds like you're having so much fun at home! yay! I know what u mean, i came home and attacked the blender and outdoor grill like a madwoman, siiigh i miss them :) So cool that u got to hang with your bro's, aaand I love those rings!
that is such a boy thing..the food is never ready when they say it will be! i dont trust it anymore..haha..i love those sandals! i have a pair of Chacos like them!
chacos are THE BEST!!! you'll love them.
you can adjust the straps around the toes by pulling on them, but they'll kind of adjust themselves once you wear them a few times.
Just found your blog, and congrats--you are going to LOVE your Chaco's, and will live in them, I swear. I live in North Carolina and we all have a "Chaco tan" on our feet all summer! So good for walking and hiking around.
James Marsden is his name, and I love him as well. :) I actually have a big flower ring, but not as big and sparkly as those, ha. I've wore it probably twice. I loooove the heels. I always get excited to wear mine for weddings and stuff, and then always pack flip flops and change immediately. I'm a failure as a girly girl. :(
Chaco's are the shiz! I bought a pair before I went to Ecuador, and they were excellent for walking around in all the time. Actually, I still wear them all the time. They give you great tan lines.
