Off to San Diego!

Whew!  What a morning it has been!  Ok, well, it started off slow, but now I’m on a roll and high off my rocker!

I woke up kinda early, (6am, much earlier than my norm of 7am) and lied around for a while because my body was still tired, but my mind was awake.  I hate it when that happens!  But I was excited for breakfast after being reminded of it on Tina’s and Gina’s blogs: Breakfast cookie!

I don’t use all the ingredients they do, because I never have them, so mine are pretty simple ingredient wise:

  • 1/3C rolled oats
  • 1 smashed banana
  • Cinnamon
  • 1T PB
  • 1T TJ’s Cranberry Apple Butter

The last two ingredients are dolloped on top, but believe me I mixed that around and mmm, mmm, mmm it was delicious!

I was supposed to be doing things this morning to get ready for today…but instead I read blogs and played solitaire, for like, 30 minutes.  Sigh…

I ate an apple too.

I finally got going after putting in an inspiring DVD (Annapolis) to get me going on my strength training.  I took the workout that Bobbi did on her blog last Friday, which included:

  • 5 min jog in place (mine went at various speeds to get my heart rate up!)
  • 25 squats
  • 20 pushups
  • 15 lunges (each leg)
  • 40 jumping jacks
  • 45 second plank
  • 20 mountain climbers (each leg)
  • 40 crunches
  • 1 min jump rope
  • 15 reverse lunges
  • 30 jumping jacks
  • 40 reverse curls
  • 30 bicycle crunches
  • 20 tricep tips
  • 20 cross body mountain climbers
  • 45 second side planks
  • 20 curtsy lunges
  • 25 donkey kicks
  • 15 supermans (5 count hold)
  • 15 side lunges
  • 20 incline pushups
  • 3 burpees (called for 15, but I HATE THESE!)
  • 2min jog (at various speeds)

It was intense, but I was inspired after that to do more, since I was watching this hot guy get even hotter as he worked out his boxing moves!

  • 50 bicep curls (w/ resistance band)
  • 50 tricep curls (w/ resistance band)
  • 10 flyaways (w/ resistance band)
  • 100 inner leg moves (I had the resistance band doubled up and around my knees)
  • 50 bridge poses
  • 30 inner leg lifts (lying down)
  • 25 outer leg lifts (lying down)
  • 50 side punches (w/ resistance band hooked to a doornob!)
  • 100 punches
  • 100 hook punches
  • 50 standing side kicks (each leg)
  • 25 second standing side leg holds

Whew!

I had plans for a 4 mile run but I was simply too tired, so I sufficed with three, which was probably actually too much with all the running I have been doing.

I looked at my schedule and I’ve been running too many days in a row, and I can start to feel it in some of my previously injured muscles.  No good.

My plan for the rest of the week is:

  • Thursday: Mission Bay 5-6 miler in San Diego
  • Friday: a little bit of strength training
  • Saturday: 11 mile long run

I’ll take a day off after that and we’ll see what happens then.  But I need to start keeping better track and not running more than 4 days a week.

Now I’m off to gobble down some lunch and then hit the road to San Diego with these yummy babies in hand!

definitely thought that was bbq sauce on your breakfast cookie. Not gonna lie, I was considering trying it - just because I trust your culinary skills. But cran-apple butter.. that sounds much more approps!

safe travels, honey bunny!

I need to make a breakfast cookie. It's been a while and I miss em!

Love that workout too. KILLER. I think I'm going to have to give it a go this week. I just wish I had some eye candy to motivate me through it too ;)

I love waking up and knowing that breakfast is going to be fantastic. Great way to start the day!

Awesome that you were able to take a step back and reassess your running schedule. Sometimes we get caught up in a routine and forget to listen to ourselves :)

Hope you have a good trip!

Ahhh, you're going to San Diego! I'm jealous! I went there last year for a family reunion (Yes.), and I loved it!

I'm not so jealous of your workout. It looks hard! I'd probably collapse from exhaustion!
