Yippee!

I’m trying very very hard to keep a positive attitude as the next few months are going to be quite on the crazy side.  So smile on my face as seriously, no matter how much i might not like that day, I would rather be doing that than sitting behind a desk all day long.  So I’m keeping smiling…and taking deep breaths of course.

And if you haven’t checked out their sites lately, Caitlin and Meghann are running three races this weekend!  I’m so proud of these two girls!  They are so strong mentally and physically to be able to accomplish these races!  I only wish I could have been there to run it with them!  I’m def jealous!  I want to run another race (which I have every intention of signing up for as soon as our schedule gets fixed and ready!).

Onto today’s madness out in the field!

Started off this mornings breakfast with something other than oats and bananas and pb…I think I might have burnt myself out of them!  GASP!  So instead I had lots of diced berries, ff plain yogurt and h2h…glorious!

blog 259

Um, breakfast didn’t last me very long and I was so hungry I was nauseous…so I had this wonderful goodie from my dry bag…LOVE THIS FLAVOR!  I wish it were around all year long…I am turning into such a ginger lover!!!

blog 260

We stopped for lunch but I wasn’t too hungry so I munched on this snack I had mixed together…but it was pretty warm so the vegan chocolate chips melted and made all the h2h and dried cranberries into a big blob…haha.  I had chocolate everywhere!  It was glorious!

blog 261

After jumping in the nasty and cold water a few times and fighting typha to get to lots of snail kite nests I finally had my lunch: Lovely

I had a boca mushroom mozzarella burger w/ mustard and laughing cow cheese on a arnold’s thin w/ lettuce and tomato.  Like the gas cans in the background?  Yeahhhh…filled with av-gas that I had all over me after filling up the boat tank…I smelled freak’n great after that. ;P

blog 262

I was way hungry within about an hour and a half and decided to finally try this bar that I’ve had since Jenn sent it to me in a package around Christmas.

OMG why had I put it off so long!?!?!?!!?  THIS BAR IS AMAZING!!!!  I loved all the hugs nuts and seeds and the flavor was phenomenal!  The only thing I didn’t like was how it got stuck to my teeth very very easily but I was still excited and happy to have tried this!  I can’t wait to try all the other flavors that I still have!!!  Mrs. May’s has got it down in my book!!  Must look and hunt for many more of these!!!!

blog 263

I got home and was in kind of a foul mood (boo) and made the quickest most random and unsatisfying (flavor and texture wise) dinner I could: ww bulgar w/ marinara, broccoli and soy cheese, with a side of pineapple.  I also noshed on two carrots while I was preparing it all.  Hah!

blog 264

And of course after having such a day as today I had to have dessert: java frozen yogurt by stoneyfield (OMG AMAZING!!!!!!!!) with a bit of vegan chocolate chips…damn, can I just say that this was heaven?  Yes ma’am, it was. ;D

Alright, off to bed!  I have tomorrow off in which I’m hoping to get to Tampa to meet some bloggers but them have some grocery shopping to do and packing before survey’s in the glades next week!!  Yeeeek!

I didn’t sink it Part II!

I had my outboard training today along with taking my written and knot test!  I didn’t sink the boat (or anyone in it getting thrown off) and I passed my test!  Yay!

But do I get to relax?  NO!  We have nasty nest checks tomorrow (I keep repeating to myself as I whine, “I love my job…I love my job…I never want to sit at a desk for 8 hrs…I love my job…I love my job…”) and other craziness but then we get Sunday off (in which I’m hoping if all goes well tomorrow, I’ll be in Tampa watching and visiting Meghann and Caitlin while they run their races, along w/ meeting lots of other bloggers for lunch!)

Then it’s back down to the Glades for gosh knows how long as our official season starts on the 1st in which, ergo: madness.  Yack.

Anyhow…here are today’s eats.  I woke up at 5.45am this morning to do work out!  Yay for me being hardcore!  I so didn’t want to get out of bed because i was so exhausted but alas, I did…and did my workout on the treadmill (GASP!  We know how I HATE the treadmill!)  I ran a solid 4 miles, which went like this:

  • 0.0-0.5: 9.15 min mile pace
  • 0.5-3.0: 8 min mile pace
  • 3.0-4.0: 7.30 mile pace (holy moly I was hauling butt!)

It was good and I was watching the news so I was entertained (I live where we don’t have tv…so news is def a rarity!).  I felt good afterwards, though my quad was def a little soar…must ice tonight now.

Breakfast was the same as it has been all week since we have no refridgeration or microwave: Breakfast cookie~  This one had rolled oats, dried raspberries, cinnamon, banana and an apple cinnamon zbar.  Was def delish and lasted me until 1pm (when I ate it at 7.30am!)

blog 256

Lunch was in a hurry at the ramp right before my test: maple pb w/ banana on ww and 3/4 of an orange (I shared w/ my coworker).

blog 257

We headed out and did some outboard boat driving then had to head back to our trailer and endure the 3 HOUR DRIVE BACK, in which I got to sit in the back btw two boys…joy.  But I def fell asleep.  Hah…and my head tilted so far to the left it still hurts.  I also had a caramel brownie luna bar.

Dinner was FABULOUS.  I wanted something w/ lots of veggies and fresh and omg homemade.  I came close.  1/8 of a pineapple w/ 1/2 a butternut squash as fries, mixed salad w/ light dressing and a quorn chicken patty on ww w/ mustard.  Soooo full by the end of it.  Yessum.

blog 255

Oh yes, and after all that learning about boats, we saw this on the way home:

I didn’t sink it!

I don’t have many pictures from today, but I assure you they weren’t too exciting.  But airboat training went well and I didn’t sink anything!  Yay!  I learend how to drive several of the boats through little obstacle courses, then how to avoid things, and how to stop using a 180 turn.  It was radd. I know you’re jealous.

Anyhow, here are the only two pictures I got today.  I don’t even have my dessert picture, because I’m snacking on them right now (Dark Chocolate MM’s).  But I’ll list everything else.

Breakfast: Gina’s Breakfast cookie (many people have been asking how I make them w/o the protein powder.  I simply smash up a whole banana, mix in 1/2c oats w/ mix ins and a big spoonful of pb then mix and set in fridge over night.  Presto!)

Snack: Banana Bread Clif Bar

Lunch: veggie sandwcich w/ laughing cow and hummus; soy crisps; blackberries/kiwi/strawberries

Dinner:

Pt I:(ahem, straight out of the can…I have no microwave in my room…I was desperate) lentil soup w/ flat out wrap.

 blog 232

Pt II: 1/2 of the veggie wrap from Swamps, in Gainesville, FL at UF.

Has been a long day.  I’m hitting the pillow! I promise tomorrow’s post will be better (and hopefully more entertaining!).

And I'm sorry I haven't been commenting on your blogs!  I'm certainly reading and keeping up with them!  But time is tight with field work!  Sorry again!  I'm trying!!!

Eep!

I started this post, but I have no more time to add to it tonight…so the start of it, and pictures!  Sorry it’s so sloppy!  Oh yeah, and posting might be a bit weird in the next few days as I have official airboat training tomorrow, then driving up to Gainesville for a meeting w/ the director, then MOCC Training and test and gah, too much to do!

~~

As many of you know I’ve struggled with an eating disorder since I was in college, over SIX years ago.  I still struggle with it today, but I must thank each and every one of you that has been there for me and part of the support system that seriously has gotten me through so many tough times I couldn’t handle by myself.

So I just wanted to post that this week, 22-28 February, is National Eating Disorder Awareness Week.  You can visit NEDA’s site for a ton of info on eating disorders, what’s being done to invoke more awareness about them in people and to lend support to those who suffer.  I know i frequent this page a lot and it has def helped.

Curling Hair

So, that doesn’t run in my family, but my hair has decided to start curling itself?

 blog 181

Um, since when?  Maybe it was just the way I slept..I cant’ decide if I like it or not.

Anyhow, quick post, busy trapping again today…actually, we’re shooting, but not how you think.  I’ll explain more later tonight. ;)

blog 180

You tired of seeing these yet?  Better not be; don’t hate on Gina’s Genius Breakfast cookie (with alterations because I don’t use protein powder).  I used my dried raspberries this time and holy monster they were good in this.  I’ve come to the conclusion that these are best when they’re baked or soaked to some extent and not eaten straight out of the bag.  Otherwise they have a pretty bitter taste.  Meff.  Great breakfast though!

And I’m off!  Happy Monday Peeps!

Yes, Um, Ok.

I can’t come up with a title.  Deal with it yo.

My tummy is still upset.  Boo.  But I’m trying to keep a positive attitude!  Will be better tomorrow!  Yes Yes Yes!  I want some real food dangit!

Anyways…Today wasn’t too interesting of a day.  Started early, ended late-ish.  But basically all I did was lay on the boat all day and read…and watch to see if we caught the birds.  And we didn’t.  So I plowed through the book I posted in a picture last night, then started my new Jen Lancaster book I’ve had sitting around!

Oh yeah, and I tried two new bars today. Look out for the reviews peeps.

Breakfast was a wonderful breakfast cookie!  I kept it simple and all-natural as to not upset the tummy.  I used 1/3C oats, the rest of my dried blueberries (from Oh Nuts, but don’t worry, I have another bag!), cinnamon, a banana and a spoonful of natural pb.  Tasted like heaven.  I seriously could just eat these all day long.

blog 157

Snack mid morning was this lovely mix of berries…ok, it was just strawberries and blackberries…but it was good. And one of the trail mix bars Miss Gliding Calm sent me in my package!  (REVIEW!)  I’ve never had these bars before, but boy were they lovely!  I loved that they weren’t too sweet and there were big chunks or whole pieces of nuts in there (like cashews! yay!  fav nut!) and of course the chocolate chips on top!  Yum!

blog 158 blog 159

But that didn’t do it for my hunger (blaming it on the fact that I had barely anything in my tummy as of yesterdays running events…), so I had this(REVIEW!)  It was really GOOD compared to the pb chocolate one (i’m still a huge fan of the S’mores flavor), because it didn’t taste too fake to me, and I really liked the two layers because they were very flavorful and chewy, but boy oh boy did my stomach not like that one.  Um, what was I thinking?

Oh yeah, I WASN’TLame Mel, Lame.

blog 160

So I spent a good chunk of time looking out at this…in the midst of finished my “Remember Me?” book and moving onto my next one.

blog 161

Stomach finally settled down around 3pm (bars eaten at 9.30ish) and had some plain cheerios with my reading (when I should have been reading my boat stuff…(bad Mel bad).

blog 162

Then had my lunch sandwich which was pretty light and settled well: ww bread w/ laughing cow, lettuce, tomato and cucumber.  Joy on bread.

blog 165

Then we came home and needed something to settle down our frustration of not catching kites after 8 hrs and me getting a very frustrating email: POM and Vodka!  Me and one of the girls mixed some POM with Vodka and added ice and the other did the same, but added a bit of orange juice to the mixture.  All our drinks were lovely…and did the trick of making us funny and giggly.  The POM added a wonderful flavor and wasn’t too strong as I thought it was just drinking it alone.

And we left the boys out on the fun.  Haha.

blog 170

I went for a short walk and took some more pictures of the areas around my home and then had my dinner. Plain and simple: 1 egg, 2 whites w/ 1/3 zucchini, broccoli and two tomato slices; two carrots and a plain flat out wrap.  I am super duper full and ready for bed.

blog 179

But I have to study and take my test.  So here are some pictures for you to enjoy on your lovely Sunday evenings/nights!

blog 171

Road leading away from my trailer/home…yes, it’s dirt.  I live off a dirt road.

 blog 173

Near a canal between the two lakes we live between…

blog 174

And more of the canal.

Yay.  Or boo.  I can’t decide which.  Damn, I think that Vodka is still in my head. But it wasn’t much, I promise.  Really.

Oh boy this is going to be a long night…or a short one.  Who knows.

Ok, I need to stop typing and shower.  Or just stop typing and clean my dishes.

I’m done now. >P
