Another Long One

But I'm not complaining!

Morning started off not before dark like the day before, but at 6.30am instead.  Totally sleeping in for me!  But I still felt heck freak'n lousy so I resorted to everyone well known form of crack: COFFEE.  And Dad would be so proud of the way I drank it, "Not like your mother's watered down stuff."  Black it was.  Only 1/2 cup, otherwise I'd be in trouble.  I had that for bfast along w/ oats, cinnamon, cranberries and a banana.

Morning was spent out doing survey's in which I snacked on one of my two favorite Odwalla bars: Banana Nut!  So chewy and def not all fake banana tasting...closest to the real thing that I've found yet!

Lunch was done super quick in the car again, consisting of a pb and cinnamon sammie w/ an apple.  I ate the orange later...

...with this in the car ride home as a snack.

I ended up having to go out again to run errands for work but it wasn't so bad as I got to spend the evening w/ Brad...totally rocks that I work w/ my bf...yeahhhhhhh.

[[Oh yes, and who btw wants me to feature something from the weekend that he made for me...Breakfast on Sunday!  After I finally woke up he made me a breakfast burrito to help get the day started.  I liked them because they were simple and weren't overwhelmed with lots of spices like I normally have them.  Minimality (is that a word?) is always nice!

So, in went the potatoes, egg whites, onion and some salt and pepper...in a plain tortilla...and then I added some salsa... >P]]

Anyhow, while we were out we dropped by Publix because I was way beyond starving w/ a mad food headache and got my FREE OIKOS!  I picked up four, two honey, one blueberry and one vanilla and had one of the honey ones on the way home.  OMG AMAZING!  It was not too sweet, just how I like my yogurt, but still had a hint of greek yogurt tartness/taste to it.  I sure hope the other ones are just as good!

We finally got home around 9 and I needed a light but satisfying dinner: arnold's thin w/ hummus and tomoato and some carrots.  and of course some kashi sunshine cereal...when can I ever go w/o it!

Now I'm off to bed! Building bright and early tomorrow along w/ two more survey's!

Ah...

I was so surprised at the number of readers who've been missing my posting!  I feel so loved!  And I apologize with a VENGENCE!!!  I have several excuses...but I'll leave them a mystery...I just might have picked a boy over you. :O  I'M SO SORRY!

heh heh.

But I come back today with a nice positve post about my 9 hour survey on one of our lovely Florida lakes!

Who wants to know how my MONDAY started? I woke up, said to Emily, "Do we really have to get up and go?"  5AM wake up calls stink.  Eww.  This is the time in the car after we'd left and headed out to the lake...breakfast in the lap, in the dark. ;)  It's a breakfast cookie if you couldn't tell...with my phone.  No, I didn't eat the phone.

Um, and I think because I did a 5-miler last night at almost 8pm I was famished this morning and had this lovely bar too, in the dark, in my lap in the car, trailering.  I'm super coordinated like.

I was seriously hangry all morning and snacked on a few of my lovely bars...I got a blogger giveaway package from Mi a few days ago and had of their lovely nakd bars that freak'n rock.  They're like Larabars, but I think even better.  But I have yet to try a PURE BAR because I can't find them...so the verdict is still out for raw bars. :)

But I had actuallly started off trying this new bar by Think Green that I've had for a while and it was HORRIBLE.  I tried two bites to give it a chance but couldn't take it anymore.  i just couldn't.  It tasted so fake and there was such a nasty aftertaste too...bleck.

Lunch was taken at two different times...once waiting for a nest check and consumed in 2 seconds flat...in which I don't even chew it's so fast.  Pb and Cinnamon sandwich.

I know you love all the cold weather gear I'm wearing when everyone around me is complaining how hot it is.  Um, wind on an airboat on a lake = CHILLY.  Esp at 8am.

Lunch number two was after finishing the hard part of the survey...so glad we were done with that!  Check out them apples...err, apple and plums.  FIRST OF THE SEASON!  Oh how i've missed them so...

I think I'm going to become famous for my apple in mouth photos...it seems to be the way I post my apples all the time.  what do you think?

And my plums, yay!

And of course I had to show you Emily's beautiful lunch...I mean really, how could you go wrong?  Doritos, Thin Mints and an Orange.  CLASSIC.

We finally finished at 6, got off by 7ish and then got to our hotel to eat dinner around 8. Dang!  I packed up the rest of my couscous from this weekend when I made Brad (aka, "B") dinner along w/ the chile-cornmeal encrusted tofu (from Veganomicon) on top of a garden salad I picked up...

And then while talking to Brad on the phone I consumed my weight in lightly salted cashews.  WHY DO I LOVE THESE THINGS SO MUCH?!  Someone needs to ban them from my mouth...

Off to bed!  More survey's and driving tomorrow!

But I'm already looking forward to this coming weekend because I get to go wine tasting, get in a nice long run (thinking 9 or 10 miler) and camping (because I never went last weekend...all booked, and thank goodness for that because the weather was HORRIBLE!).

Still trying to catch up on Google Reader!  Mwah!

Such a Bad Blogger

Opps.  This blogger told you she would post later Thursday night...and she didn't.  I have a valid reason! Although I don't like to make excuses, here is mine: the other two crews came back wayyyy late.  Emily and I waited and packed and cleaned until the other two crews arrived back at around 9.30/10pm and then we were all up till at least midnight trying to get everything organized, data filled in, cleaned up, etc.  It was quite a night, but finished lack luster.

Anyhow, I have most of my eats from Thursday.  Lately I seem to be eating lots of small things throughout the day and not really having any meals...I feel very out of control with it but am trying my best to keep a positive mindset about it since I've been working on having a better mentality about eating!  It is actually kinda helping on the intuitive eating front so that's good since I acutally end up eating when I'm hungry instead of just when I'm bored, or scared that the next time I'll be able to eat won't be for a very long time!  But that's the way field work goes!

So, backtrack to THURSDAY!  I had finally ended down in the glades Wednesday night after way too much driving and did a survey with Emily.  We were out the door by 6.30 so I made the quickest meal possible with what little food that I brought (oops, a bit unprepared this time since the schedule was all funked up with us traveling down a day later).  I shoved the rest of my Chobani down with a banana and the rest of my h2h, which was probably around 1/2C.  Out the door now!

Out in the field was crazy but I got to see a nest with two baby birds (we're thinking about 5 days old) and the sounds of angry gators all around me.  ROAR GRRR....That's what they sound like.  For a snack I had one of my favorite Odwalla bars: Choco-walla!

And for lunch, because of poor planning I had no bread, so simply brought random things to put together: some Maple pb w/ an orange (which btw, didn't go very well together...needs to be regular pb), an apple, and a kashi crunch bar a little while later.

(Excuse the nastiness of my hair...was so windy and I was just in gross shape!)

We got done pretty early for the kind of time it normally takes to do this survey so we were quite excited.  Though as good as that may sound, that means no birds...so where have they all gone?  We're still trying to find them.

Upon return, with some good ol' work things to do I snacked on another apple some maple pb and some TJ's dark chocolate covered pretzels...OMG these are amazing.  The dark chocolate isn't too sweet and it contrasts great with the slight saltiness of the pretzels.  Mom, send them again please. :)

Napped!, then decided it had been tooooooooo long since I ran so hit the pavement I did!  I ran about 45 minutes, it was freak'n humid as all, but overall it was a great run and felt wonderful getting out and feeling the burn.  I don't know how far I ran, but I could care less; because as long as I felt good, that's all that matters!

I wasn't too hungry for a while and thereafter (I blame the heat) but when I finally had dinner it was great.  I had yet to try melting my Laughin Cow Cheese wedges into food because for some dumb reason thought it wouldn't melt correctly, but it worked great!  I heated up some spaghetti squash mixed w/ salsa, add in the cheese afterwards then had some of my asagio kashi crackers to dip into it...SOOOO GOOD people! (So good I had it again the next night; dope!)

I know, looks unappetizing but I promise, it rocked.

FRIDAY!  More surveys but they consist of mostly driving the car and going on levees and such to look for birds.  I did three surveys all on the way back up from the Glades w/ B, so most food was eaten in the car, on the wimb with what food we had.  I was fortunate enough to have a lot of fruit left over so that was the majority of my choices for the day.

Breakfast was eaten late as I woke up with a headache, but was good none the less: orange, banana and a blueberry Zbar.  For some reason this bar tasted WAY sweeter than normal...Odd.  Maybe I just hadn't had it in a while...

Throughout the day I snacked on my lovely cashews that seriously, I cant' get enough of, and shared them w/ B.

Lunch was hilarious as I was taking pieces of bread and simply swiping them inside of the pb jar to have that on it...I didn't have a knife/fork/spoon ok!?  It was the best I could do...which meant pb all over my fingers and hands...I felt like I was 5; it was fun!  Ergo, no picture, as I was a mess and getting pb everywhere...

Again, more snacking as we drove, and ate up the last of my pb pretzel nuggets along with an orange.

We got home around 5ish and I was starving but had to get data put it and uploaded.  Quickly finished that with B and had the same dinner as last night, except I added in two carrots for extra dipping.  Fantastic. I seriously could eat this ALL THE TIME

I spent most of the night hanging out with B then got hungry around 11.30...so I had to have dessert, right?!  Remember last weekends grand adventures with pancakes and ice cream?  Of course the LACTOSE FREE ice cream was beckoning to me from the freezer...so I had to oblige...and had some of it with my fav 365 vegan chocolate chips!  Best dessert ever...along w/ the macademia chocolate chip cookies that my mom sent in a care package the other week.  I'm sorry, my sweet tooth was rampent!

Ok, off to get in a nice run this morning before going out and having some fun times camping!  Hopefully it's not going to rain on us!  Oh well, that's what TENTS are for right!?

Wind Burn

Hi everyone! I just got back from being out in the field today and will post tonight when I'm able to get the internet to work on my computer so I can upload pictures! I'm also hoping to catch up on your wonderful blogs; forgive me for not commenting! My google reader is back up to 400+ again; why must you all lead such interesting lives!!!! :D

I hope you're all having a good Thursday and have some great plans for this weekend! What are you up to this weekend?! I'm going camping with a friend to one of the nearby parks and hope to get some much needed birding in too! I also plan on working on my baking products for the 2nd Blogger Bake Sale that Meghann is holding for her fundraiser! Make sure to check out her sight, as she's featuring all the different bakers on her blog!

On top of that, I thought I might leave you with a bit of random tidbits that I've learned in the past few days.

Do you know of any good random facts?!

-Kangaroos and Emus can't walk backwards
-Coke in a can won't float, diet coke will
-Australian currency, from $5 to $100 bills are made of plastic.

"See" you all later tonight!

To Stop Complaining

Seriously, that’s all I ever do.  Or I feel like I always do.  I’m making it a personal goal to stop complaining so much and to look at situations differently; say how they possibly could have gone, or at least one good aspect about them instead.  That and I think it makes for better conversation instead!

Sooo…in that case, work was not so bad yesterday!  I’ll go through what I might have said, but what I will say:

Complain:

  1. Got so wet on the boat, being thrashed around in white capped waters, I thought i was going to fly off.
  2. Got sunburned after 15 minutes and was too lazy to put my sunscreen on.
  3. I got bit by fire ants and it really itches.
  4. I didn’t have enough food.
  5. I was super tired.
  6. Our schedule might/got messed up/around and my weekend plans might hit the can.

Turn around the complaining:

  1. It was great to finally be outside today, on the boat, on the water.  Sitting behind a desk the past few work days made me realize even more my real love for the outdoors.
  2. I got to work on my bikini tan and am going to be rocking my color when summer comes around
  3. Live and let learn lady; the bugs are going to be everywhere!
  4. Enjoy the food that you did get today and remember to be more prepared for next time.  Field work is never easy on the belly because you’re constantly doing something; you just have to remember.
  5. Again, lesson learned.  Go to bed earlier and make sure that I get the right kinds of food in to give me energy to keep going!  Pick out the power foods that you love the most and have them!
  6. This just means that my exciting weekend plans can be saved for another date/day and that instead I can plan something else that might be just as fun, or even more fun!  Who knows!

What do you think?  Any other suggestions?  How would you try to counteract the act of complaining in your day?

Ok, onto food!

Stomach was feeling better (thanks for all the well wishes!) and wanted to make sure it stayed that way, so I had something pretty plain, but delish!  Everyone talks so much about these cereal messes, which I have really yet to try, so I took a sort of attempt at it?  I know it’s only one kind of cereal, but I never eat it w/ just some pb mixed in there.  Does that count as part of a cereal mess?  I had some chobani plain, strawberries, cheerios and natural honey pb.  I couldn't get the pb to mix in well because it was in the fridge and hard…next time I’ll leave it out for a bit!

We worked on a trap all morning then plowed down on lunch before heading out to the lakes: pb and cinnamon on Arnold's thin w/ an apple.

I was pretty hungry by mid afternoon so I snacked on a banana and around 2 servings of my Nature’s Path Cinnamon Sticks.  These things are seriously so good!  I need to stock up on more!

Here is what we were up to today…well, Kyle was.  I was picture taking…and video taping. Or trying. :_D

And our new fashion statement:

Yes, that is duct tape.  Duct tape could seriously solve all our problems.

We were out super late (like, got home around 9?) but I was hungry driving back after our errands, so I had an emergency stash clif bar.  The FAV.  But it didn’t satisfy me obvi since it was sufficing for DINNER.  So by the time I got home, I snacked on some h2h and mini pb cups.

Then BAM! BED!  Which is why I’m posting this morning!

Off to trap!  Happy Wednesday (HUMP) Day!!!!

I'm Still Here

Oh boy, my posting has been so bad lately.  I have an excuse…but I’ll have to share that later on…  Some already know why. >D

Anyways…yesterday’s eats were nothing to post about…my stomach was so upset (probably from that blue crap I put in my vodka…which I dubbed “straight HRCS”) so I didn’t end up eating much.  Otherwise I had a fun day because I went with B to a preseason Astros vs. Nationals game.  It rocked, because the Astros came back in the bottom of the 9th.  Yeah yeah!  “B” was excited, but that’s cause the Astros are his team.  Angels are so much better (and no dad, they are NOT MINOR LEAGUE!).

Today was spent at the trailer trying to get more GIS done.  I got about 1/2 my project done, so that’s good.  The rest of the day was spent helping build a trap…will be testing it out soon!  Otherwise, here are my yummy eats.

Breakfast was fantabulous!  I had Plain Chobani with strawberries, h2h and some of my “heaven yo” granola…And I’m sure that many of you have read Hangypant’s post on Heather’s greek yogurt preference, but I must say, I don’t really like either of those!  I’m a total Fage addict…I need to get me some more!  But I gotta use up my chobs first…I might give it another chance if i ever get around to buying the favored kinds.

I was kinda sick all morning, and will spare you the details, but it wasn’t pretty. So lunch was quite plain and not tummy rumbling. Piece of ww toast w/ 2 egg whites, little bit of earth balance, soy cheese and some cantaloupe.

Later on I snacked on some graham sticks…I didn’t have the cranberries.

I was excited for dinner because I had a new dressing to try and knew it would go great with my veggies and the ginger would help my tum tum.  I thought you might like a look at the nutritional info…because really, how can you ever go wrong w/ Annie’s products?  This one freak’n rocked!

I mixed it w/ bulgar, mixed japanese veggies, morning star farms, and spaghetti squash.  Delish!

I’ve been snacking on a bit of h2h because i’m still hungry and hoping it doesn’t upset the tum tum. :)

Tomorrow is trap day!  Hope you all have great Tuesdays!!!

Pancakes? When?

At 1am. Yeah, I rock like that.

Flashback now:

Friday night: hit up a few bars in downtown Melbourne for a few drinks…well, not too many, at least not me.  I had a Newcastle while the others had a black & tan and then we moved on to the next place…I watched as the others have some drinks and then watched, and laughed.

Saturday:

I wanted to run, but was up far too late the night before.  And it had gotten too humid too fast in the morning. I was def envious of the fact that Meghann had run 10 miles and I had run: ZERO. Hah!  Anyhow…no guilt

I started off the morning w/ some cheerios and a banana w/ my Heaven Yo granola on the top, w/ some extra cinnamon and unsweetened almond breeze.  But I needed a chocolate fix so I tried part of the care package that my mom sent me a few days ago: Dark chocolate edamame!

blog 526blog 527

I was outside most of the morning helping repair a power washer, then we headed out to a wings place so the boys could watch the UConn vs. Texas A&M game on the big screen.  Not so much fun for me…but the boys were having fun. :)

But before we left I had a quick lunch of toast, one w/ pb one w/ my new earth balance spread and some cantaloupe.  I totally needed water to make it all do down…freak’n bread.  haha!

blog 528blog 529

Got back and I was starving so I snacked on an apple and graham sticks, then some cashews from the bag.  Oh yes, and some more dark chocolate edamame; They’re that good.

blog 532

Dinner came soon after, of the dinner I didn’t have last night: It didn’t taste as good as I thought it would.  Boo.

blog 534

But my night totally got way better when B and I decided to go out and go ICE SKATING!!!  I seriously haven’t done this in so so so many years and I rocked it.  I had Gliding Calm inspiration to keep me on my feet…spinning circles around B and watching him fall. :P

We decided afterwards that since he’d never had chocolate chip pancakes, I had to make them for him.  I used a whole wheat mix I got at WF a while back and added in my vegan chocolate chips.  And of course, we had to have a “drink” along with it…no real pictures of mine because I downed it pretty quick…but it was way too sweet.  Vodka and some blue raspberry something or other to mix with it…2x.  And some red wine afterwards (very little…).  I think I’m turning into a boozy girl.  Hah!  but, this is what we ended up eating by the end of our kitchen debacle: chocolate chip pancakes (his had some of our newly found white chocolate pb in it) with lactose free ice cream.  And he had tater tots.  I think I had a 1/2 of one.  Hilarious.

Sunday: So, I was supposed to go for a run this morning, but again, too warm and humid.  Gah.  And I have a headache.  I wonder why?

Off to watch pre-season baseball game: Astros vs. Nationals!
