I had the joy of meeting my two bosses today for my new job! I was nerve wracked of course, but everything went well (thank goodness; I wasn’t sure what to expect). But I think the best part was after talking to my dad and him asking, “So, did you figure out how much you’re getting paid?”
I laughed and said, “Err…no. I’ll go back and find the offer in the announcement at some point. Otherwise, I’m not really worried.” That just tells you how much I love my job/work field; I don’t care about how much I get paid, since I enjoy it that much (on top of that, I’m not too worried since with these kinds of jobs you get free housing and sometimes free internet/cable TV so there are props to the lower salary).
Anyhow, I’m sure you’ll be hearing enough about my new job in the near future, so lets focus on other things, like de-virginizing Lindsey's Vitamix this morning!!!
I am ashamed/embarrassed to say that I HAVE NEVER HAD A GREEN MONSTER/SMOOTHIE. I know, I know, how can I call myself a blogger and not have had one yet?!
Well, first of all, the blender we have at home is horrible at it’s job. Secondly, smoothies never ever fill me up; no matter what you stick in it (protein powders/pb/lots of stuff) I am never full for more than an hour. I guess I need my cereals/breads, eh? And third? I just get too darned cold from these things! I’m always cold to begin with so you can imagine how much worse it is afterwards!
Lindsey put a good number of ingredients in the mix and I couldn’t taste the spinach at all! It was definitely yummy, and to make it even better, topped it off with some Kashi Sunshine. Oh how I have missed you my favorite cereal.
I went on a run at around noon when the sun was high up and the weather at it’s warmest: around the low 50’s. I was soooo happy to feel the warm sun on my body; I mean, I ran in a pair of shorts, long sleeved shirt and a t-shirt! Anyhow, I ran about 5.4 miles in about 46-47 minutes, give or take, since I don’t have a watch (I left it at Bobbi’s when we had our sleepover…waaa!)
I was exhausted by the end of it and it was actually almost painful…until I realized that I was feeling pain all over my body from my SKIN. The winter weather has dried out my skin so bad that when I sweat when I run, I excrete so much salt that it burns all the cuts from the dryness.
!@#)($*%&$@#$)(#*&$% is the best way I can put the pain, if you get my drift.
Anyhow…work stuff took place in the afternoon and I came back to watch some Cougar Town and then DINNER!
Lindsey already had it set we were going to have Crock-Pot Soup since she would be away at work all day, and boy was it delicious! She threw in things like lentils, split peas, black beans, spinach, carrots, broccoli, corn, garlic, onions, vegan stock and lots of spices!
She also picked up some rosemary bread on the way home. I had these two pieces, time two. It was so good!
I was a tad bit hungry for dinner…hence all the bread, but not too full for my desserts (Yes, you read that right, PLURAL).
I brought Lindsey a TJ’s Care Package which included Chocolate Covered Edamame, which I got to dive into when her hubby broke open the container. I had these few…times two.
And of course Lindsey couldn’t wait any longer to finally make this in her Vitamix:
BANANA SOFT SERVE!!!
Of course topped with chocolate chips. I mean, how could a girl pass up the chocolate…right?
Lets just say, I’m in chocolate heaven right now. So it’s time for me to check out and get some rest, I have a really long day tomorrow!

That is so great how your pay doesn't matter much to you!! So many people get way too concerned about that kind of thing. I think it is MUCH more important to love what you do! Props to you! :)
What a great outlook on your job, congratulations on finding one that you love!
...Why is your green monster brown? (I agree, they never fill me up.)
ouch girly, gotta get you some lotion! oh a vitamix, i would die for one of those! your job sounds so cool, i really admire you for being so dedicated and adventurous!

wow a GREAT DAY!! tried a smoothie, naner soft serve, job interview, run!! get it girllllll! i would LOVE TO RUN in 50 deg weather!
Chocolate heaven sounds nice. I'm craving some chocolate myself now!
It's so REFRESHING to hear someone say they don't care too much about the pay as long as they enjoy the job...now that's passion! I'm so glad you found your happy place at work!
I've had that happen with jobs too, especially since most of them have been a standard summer research grant etc. I find smoothies dont fill me up - so I only have them as a snack, not as a meal replacement.
To Mica: the smoothie was brownish because of frozen blueberries. :)
I'll miss you staying here Melissa!
OMG my skin is soooooo dried out, too. I'm going through lotions like it's my job trying to find a worthy one. Yesterday, I bought Gold Bond Aloe something or other. It's super think - love it! I've used it in the past, and my roommate and I called it "miracle lotion." Lol. I'd recommend it!
Neutrogena Norwegian Formula (or something) lotion is REALLY good... as is Eucerin. I have the worst dry skin, and these things really help!
So excited for your new job!
Yay for green monsters! I haven't actually had one either for much the same reasons as you!
Good luck today with the job!
that's awesome that you love your jobs - that's something that a lot of people would love to be able to say! glad the meeting went well :)
Can't wait to hear more about the new job. :)
God, I think it is so AWESOME that you are doing what you love. I know that one day, when I'm doing what I love most, I won't care about the money. As long as I can live comfortably, eat healthy food, and enjoy MYSELF I know it will all be good ;)
Sorry to hear about the stinging cuts, but I'm glad you happy to be starting a new job!
Since the colder weather has set in I haven't made any banana soft serve and I miss it!
mmmmm chocolate. I could go for some about now. :)
Great outlook on the job!! Its so refreshing to hear about someone that likes the line of work they are in. COngrats!! I gotta say Im with you on the smoothie thing. They are great but Im always hungry later. I think I just need to chew something. Ive never had a green monster smoothie either, even though they look tasty.
Great job on the workout. So sorry your skin is so dry. Can you find a really great body butter to put on? I hope you feel better!!!
that banana soft serve loooks sssoo yum. Gotta make that again soon. Take care girl!
FINALLY! someone else who hasn't had a GM. I though I was the only one. I don't know why I don't just go for it - for some reason they freak me out and I'm just not a huge fan of liquid cals. Whatevs, to each her own!
love your outlook on the job sitch. I'd be blessed to make any money right now - so.damn.broke.
<3
ahh you lucky vitamix friend. Hope you love FL again
A crockpot soup sounds delicious, especially with the frigid weather we've been having. Do you have a specific recipe you girls used, or did you just toss things in?
I totally agree with your job mentality. I think loving your job makes it worth it, no matter how much it pays. :-)
