Launch Time! (And CHOCOLATE FRUIT!)

Do you see that smile on my face?  Pure and absolute…excitement!!!

After spending 5 hours in very confined quarters (ie a hunting blind) with a friend of the project’s, we finally caught the Short-tailed Hawk we were waiting for!!!

Look at this beauty!!!  We think it’s a she.

Banding in process!

We put a band on her leg and set up a satellite transmitter on her back before launching her off back into the sky!

Ready, set, LAUNCH!

I don’t have all of today’s eats, but I did try this little thang I picked up at the San Antonio Rock n’ Roll Healthy Expo back in November.

And now I remember why I don’t like Larabars.  Sorry Larabar, I tried again…but they just don’t do it for me, flavor or texture wise!

I went on a run with my coworker after getting back from banding and gosh was it a great night to run!  It was the perfect temperature and not too humid…so we cranked it up a notch!  We ended up finishing 3.67 miles in 32 minutes!  I haven’t run that fast in a very long while!

We ended the run with a nice strong sprint and then I headed off to my room for a Living Room Bootcamp #3 by Bobbi!  I also included all the moves from Whittle My Middle #2 since I decided randomly to start it…yesterday. ;)  I know I’m a bit late, but I’m going to keep it up for a month from now!  We’ll see how it works; cause I know it already since my abs are freak’n soar!

After all of that I showered up and settled on a dinner that was already in the oven…enter garlic/onion/curry sweet potato fries w/ organic ketchup…

And some spaghetti squash with marinara and chickpeas.

But aside from those pretty lame meals, I had the most exciting snack this afternoon.  But you want to know what the kicker is, other than it was a lactose-free milkshake?  It was made from a FRUIT that TASTES LIKE CHOCOLATE.

Yes, you read me right: CHOCOLATE.  (Are you jealous yet Evan?)

Sorry you got the butt end of the product, and a cell phone picture to boot, but I swear on everything I own, I had a shake made from fruit (including strawberries too!), that didn’t include chocolate, but tasted like it.

Want to know what the fruit was?  Have I teased you enough?  Want to know that there is one that even tastes just like Vanilla Pudding out there too!?

Ok…it’s called a Sapote.  It looks nothing like how I thought it would, because it starts out looking like this:

 Black-Sapote  (Source)

But you have to wait for it to turn black and start gushing juice before it’s ripe and you can eat it.

Mmm…it was tasty.  Expensive so I won’t be eating it much, but tasty…

Only one more day to enter my Forze GPS Bar Giveaway!!!  I’ll announce ALL 10 WINNERS tomorrow night!

Yum, I love black sapote. It is amazing in shakes, and while it doesn't taste exactly like chocolate, it is still delicious. Have you tried mamey before? It's another awesome tropical fruit with a similar texture to the black sapote.
What a beautiful hawk by the way. :)

That's so cool! Hawks are my favorite bird, by far. I always get so excited when I see them in the trees or hear them! :)

Thanks for the info on black sapote - I've never had one/heard of it before!

Your work sounds so neat! The hawk is absolutely beautiful.

I've never heard of or tried sapote before, but it sounds really good. I don't think they have those here, though.

Hope you have a great week!
