Ma Maison

Before I show you my home, want to see how I started my day off on the right foot…?

 1001120005

The return of Greek yogurt! In SoCal it is hard to fine inexpensive Greek yogurt at the regular grocery store and you always have to go to somewhere like Whole Foods, Trader Joes and Henry’s, which are all a significant distance away from me.  But thank goodness for Publix…oh how I’ve missed shopping there!

My mix contained a 1/3C Plain Oikos w/ cinnamon, about a cup of H2H, a banana, some raisins…and something that might look like raisins but definitely aren’t…yes, I started off the day with chocolate, in chip form…cravings I suppose!

So, are you ready for a tour?!  I hope so!

My room (please excuse the mess, still moving in…)

Our own indoor…garden? Arboritrarium?

There is actually a laundry room, another two other bedrooms just smaller than mine, a master bedroom and two more bathrooms in the house…but they’re currently occupied, and not by me…so pictures might not have been welcomed, if you get my drift.

Hope you enjoyed my tour!  I feel spoiled in this house compared to the last two!

After a morning of taking tests and not succeeding in finishing them (stupid freak’n internet and it’s cookie crap) I finally got outside for a workout.  It’s getting warmer here in Homestead (Miami) but the wind is blowing like mad!  It must have been gusting at around 20-25mph today!

Anyhow, I set out for a run where I ran the first 1/2 at a leisure pace, then on the way back I hoofed it!  I upped my excursion level to about a 7 or 8 and felt good the whole way!  It was a bit hard having to jump into the grass every time a car came, but it wasn’t too bad.  I ended up running for about 30 min, totaling in at 3.6 miles!  (All and always estimates btw…which is why I freak’n need a Garmin)  Yay!

Then I came back for a much needed strength training session!!!

  • 10 burpees (as much as I hate these, I’m trying to get them into my little regime; I will dominate them!)
  • 20 pushups
  • 50 bicycle crunches
  • 30 standing lunges (w/ 2x 5lbs weights)
  • 75 crunches
  • 75 reverse curls
  • 30 squats (w/ 2x 5lbs weights)
  • 50 bridge poses (3 second pauses, w/ 2x 5lbs weights)
  • 30 side kicks
  • 30 side leg lifts (laying down)
  • 45 inner leg lifts (laying down)
  • 40 bicep curls (5lb weights)
  • 40 tricep dips (5lb weights)
  • 100 front punches
  • 100 twisting side punches
  • 30 donkey kicks
  • 2 min plank

I was a sweaty mess afterwards! Can you tell!?  But danged did I feel good!

By the time dinner arrived I was famished!

You should all thank Lindsey, for she has helped me turn a new leaf with sweet potatoes.  I have been ranting about how I don’t like them forever, but when I went to her house and she made me sweet potato fries I couldn’t resist trying to make them myself.  Like my butternut squash fries, I covered them in savory spices (since for the life of me I can’t take it when vegetables are sweet! gah!) and baked them at 400 degrees for 1/2 hr, then 15 min more after tossing them around.

1001120029

Along side I had leftover black beans from last night along with a mix of rotel (tomatoes and jalapenos), broccoli, mini portabello mushrooms, and zucchini…all with more garlic and onion powder.

 1001120030

I have died and gone to heaven.  Actually, my tastebuds died since everything was so spicy! (Nothing that dried mango couldn’t help)  So much better than last night…I might eat this for days.

Ok, now I’m off to watch The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and catch up on some blogs!  Btw, check out this new blog that I’ve found and am obsessed with (err…maybe it’s the cute boy…what?! No! No boys for 2010 remember!?!??!!)

Your house is awesome! I love the indoor tree thing.
And glad the black beans turned out better.
And your comment on my blog made me laugh; maybe it's my dislike of pasta that has drove me towards my eating

That was a really great movie. You should read the book if you haven't yet, too.

Have you checked out mapmyrun.com? I don't have a Garmin so that's what I use. I've found that to get accurate mileage, you have to zoom in completely when you're mapping it. It's a bit of a pain, but you can log the routes and access them later. There's also a hybrid map setting so you can where the mile splits will be, too.

Awesome digs! I hope you enjoy giving it some personal touches. =)
