I May Have Done It…

Jumped on the bandwagon that is.  Ask Me Anything!

I hope you, my faithful and wonderful readers, aren’t too tired of asking questions about your fellow bloggers!  I would really love to know what you’d like to know about me!  Anything from my work, to food, to fitness, to eating disorders and recovery…I’m up for all things!

~~

Anyhow, I got my official race photos from the Miami Half Marathon this weekend!!!  Um, can you find me in this one?

finish2

I’ll give you a hint: Look for my leg.  Only my leg.

And don’t I just look so strong and fantastic in this one?

finish4

This one is definitely my favorite:

finisher

And this is the only decent running one they got!  I swear I was running on the wrong side of the street every time there was a camera man!  Arg!  Oh well!

race3

I actually like to get the pictures that have lots of other runners in them, and look at their faces, postures, and strides.  Does that make me a running dork?!  Hehe!

~~

Would you like to stop hearing about my race now?  I’m sorry I’m so excited about it…I could talk about it forever!

So…best breakfast on the planet?  Yes ma’am, you got it right here:

  • 1/2C Plain Oikos Greek Yogurt w/ Cinnamon
  • Banana
  • 1/4C Honey Puffs
  • 2T Back to Nature Granola
  • 1T Dark Chocolate Dreams

1002010002

Don’t be surprised if I have this again tomorrow.  And the next day…and maybe the next.  Basically until I run out of OIkos.  And bananas.  And Dark Chocolate Dreams. (which btw, are all on the verge of being GONE! EGAG!)

The rain they forecast for our race yesterday, finally came today (thank goodness) and holy shmoly was it relentless:

1002010003

I was afraid our gator heads (fake of course) would eventually float away in the rivers of water forming everywhere…

1002010004

After working with some GIS I was hangry for lunch (things were not working for me on the computer…that program can be so frustrating, but I love it!).  Enter, the end of most of my food stashHow do I seem to always run low on my food!?  Oh yeah, I eat it in copious amounts:

  • Artisan Rosemary Bread Fold
  • 1 egg, 2 whites w/ black pepper
  • Spinach
  • Hummus
  • Cucumbers

1002010006

And of course there is always the fruit.  I have to have fruit at EVERY SINGLE MEAL.  It’s just not complete if there’s no fruit!

1002010007

More GIS’ing the afternoon away because the rain prevented us from doing our job…and I snacked on this…in amounts I’ll leave undisclosed: (Ok, probably like +1/2 a cup; whatever)

1002010015

This bad baby trail mix includes some awesome goods like raisins, dark chocolate chips (2 different percentages), pb chips, pb yogurt covered raisins, chocolate covered peanuts, peanuts, and I added cashews because there were barely any nuts.  There are almonds in there, but when I picked it from the bulk bin I tried to avoid them (please don’t hate, I don’t like almonds…just means more left for those who do love them!)

When dinner finally came I was super lazy, and even though I had awesome suggestions from my twitter friends I went with a lazy “woman’s” dinner:

Hummus salad dressing on tomatoes, carrots, celery and spinach

1002010008

Obligatory Apple

1002010009

And what I deem “Poor Man’s Bruschetta”

  • Garden Herb Triscuits
  • 1 Laughing Cow Cheese Wedge
  • Garlic Powder
  • Black Pepper
  • 1/4 Bell Pepper
  • Diced Tomato

1002010011

Layer it up, toast them in the toaster for a bit and BAM!  Tasty tapas/meal done in less than 2 minutes!

Oh, but I wanted to share with you the goodies that I made for Amanda for hosting us this weekendDouble Chocolate Chip Muffins from La Dolce Vegan:

1002010013

They are really chocolaty…and AWESOME!

I’m off to chat with the parents and friends…hopefully tomorrow will be less rainy so we can get out of the house!  I’ve already got cabin fever!

That muffin looks AMAZING!
OK, now I know when I have my first race that it doesn't matter what my time is, I just need to look for the cameras

here's one Q: how would you recommend someone to train for 5K for the first time?

Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment :) Congrats on finishing the race; that's quite an accomplishment!

And I'm so jealous that you have rain. Want to trade? :) We have snow, snow, and more snow...

Congrats! Your race pictures look wonderful, even if they didn't capture many action pics. And I don't think it's a running nerd thing, I ask my family to take pictures of the lead runners so I can study their form!

Nah...not a running nerd thing. I did the same thing with rowers when I was in college, and now I watch other cyclists. :) And congrats on your half!! Your running stories inspire me so much...

Great race pics! and that purple top makes you easy to spot...And talk about your race as much as you want, you deserve to brag a little ;)

Okay, I'm glad I'm not the only person who feels that meals are incomplete without fruit...I sometimes worry that eating so many fruits a day is bad? So not.
