Finally, A Normal Day!

It has been so nice…being able to eat hot and cold foods, sitting at a table…and not having to inhale my meals in one minute flat.

Hope you all enjoyed the craziness of my job post from this morning.  Seriously so exhausting but it’s so much fun…and I love that in the midst of it all I’m helping to save endangered species and threatened habitats!

Anyhow, after my post I went off and did my run…thank goodness this time I brought along a small water bottle since I don’t have a camelback or anything…it made the run that much better! I ended up doing 8.1 miles, with a 1/2 mile walk after mile 7 because my hamstrings and hips were getting very very tight.  Overall it was a great one, especially after not having run in 5 days and before that, I had only run a handful of days in the week or so before at 3-5 mile stints!  I’m hoping next week to get up to 10 miles comfortably!

After that sweat session and showering I settled on some “plated” food!  I bought some bagel thins the other week to try out and just unfreezed them, so I had some laughing cow cheese and sabra hummus on it, with mushrooms, tomato and lettuce.  I love my veggies at lunch.  On the side I had some pineapple and two chocolate pumpkin muffins with some yogurt butter on it.  I was hoping the yogurt butter would help moisten it up a bit since it’s been in the fridge for a while…but it failed.  It would be better mixed in yogurt or with some milk or something!

We headed out to hit up a bunch of stores because everyone was in need of a massive amount of groceries!  But before I left, look what I got in the mail!

Had you heard of it yet?  Blogger Act of Kindness\?  Itzy from Itzy’s Kitchen has conned up the idea and was kind enough to pick me as her blogger!  She sent me some of my favorite Zbars and included a Bumble Bar that I have yet to ever try!  She also included a nice card too!!!  Thanks Itzy!  You are such a great blogger too!!!

We headed out and hit up Whole Foods first where I broke some serious bank getting random things I don’t need. Hah.  I did get my favorite Sunprise Peanut Drops (like peanut M&M’s but better) and some other thins to make some great trail mixes…and bought about a dozen bars in the process…they were on sale alright?!

I did find this cool magazine while I was picking out some Jazz Apples that were on sale:

 1004050054

This magazine, edible South Florida, is totally new, this being the first issue, and I am in love with it!  One of these needs to be everywhere!  It lists lots of things like recipes and events!

1004050055

There are also some spectacular ads for some of my favorite (and Miami based) companies like MixMyGranola!

1004050056

It suggested a really neat website/blog too I’m sure my FL blogger buddies would love.

1004050057

There was an interesting article about some very unique Food Trucks in Miami too!  You can even follow them on Twitter!  One serves up ice cream in South Beach…am totally going to have to try it before I leave!

1004050058

For all of you that are thinking about doing a CSA or buying club, this was an interesting article about what is included and the different parts it entails!

 1004050061

And last but not least, there was a list of all the Farmers Markets in South Florida, along with the days they occur on!  I know this will surely come in handy!

1004050063

I perused over that while I ate the best dinner I have had in almost a week:

Mexican Black Beans with Mixed Veggies and Brown Rice

1004050051

(Dangit! Why are all my pictures so freak’n blurry when I stretch them out!?)

Anyhow, I sautéed some olive oil, garlic, onions, bell peppers and mushrooms first and then added in some par cooked asparagus and black beans with taco seasoning to finish it off.  I topped it on top of some leftover brown rice I’ve been neglecting since last week.  It came out marvelous!  Better dinner I’ve had in days!!!

I ended the night with some of my Sunprise Peanut Drops of course…and much deserved blog reading, baking and tv.  Oh yeah, and it’s only barely 8pm!

Your pics do look different, but they look really great! If anyone deserves random kindness...it's you! Your blog is like that random kindness to so many people. Truly.

I love the "edible" magazines - my area of southeast Massachusetts has one as well and I always look forward to it.

Glad you picked up some groceries - and had a great run!

What a sweet package! And echoing what Jenny says, my friends love Cafe Versailles! When they first moved here apparently they went every weekend lol. I will say though, that the only fruit they have seems to come in syrup, which was kinda disappointing.

That sounds like a fabulous day!!! I LOVE the bagel thins! They are like the Arnold's thins but I think that they taste better, or maybe it's just in my head. Who knows.
Ahhh WF. I think my bank account screams in protest when I go in there. And I always come out with TONS of bars. I just can't help myself around bars... haha
Love ya girl!

Happy Belated Easter, Melissa!
How are those bagel thins? I've been going back and forth about whether to buy them. One one hand, they seem like the perfect "non bagel." On the other, well, they're not a bagel ;)
