Weekend Time!!!

Oh man, you have no idea how much I have waited for today…cause it’s the start of my weekend!  I worked last Sunday so I get Friday off…which is great because I have a crap ton of stuff to get done before this weekend…which I thought was going to be relaxing…but isn’t.  I forgot I had plans…like wedding stuff?  Oh yeah…that’s what happens when you’re a bridesmaid…

And my apartment is ready so I’m dropping my crap off on Saturday morning before heading back towards home and…madness that shall ensue.

But I digress…food time!

I woke up famished…and suppose all the walking from yesterday’s surveys was finally catching up with me.  Too bad I had just as much to do today, actually even more!  I had my Banana Oats again, but this time with Sunbutter’s Omega-3 version and afterwards added on some Crofter’s spread for sweetness…there is something about Sunbutter that just doesn’t taste right…I always feel like it needs more salt?!

I got through one plot that took much longer than expected and ended up feeling exhausted more than hungry, but knew I would need something to get me through the next plot.  It was about 11am by this time, but I simply wasn’t hungry.  This was entirely forced.

1005130005

Like the Joshua Tree in the background?  I ran into one today One bent over and smacked me in the head and I was bleeding all over the place…along with the rattlers I ran into and the dust twister that made a surprise attack on me.  It’s been that kind of day.

1005130006

I finished the second plot and just wanted to lay down, but knowing I’d walked about 12 miles I knew I needed more fuel.  So I had my lunch I’d packed…leftover vegetable soup with chickpeas and salsa and a sandwich thin..but ended up eating just the soup.  I wasn’t feeling the bread.

 1005130011

Even my smile can’t hide my exhaustion.  I was almost done at this point.

1005130012

Oh the desert…

1005130013

How I’m going to hate you soon because you’ll be over 100+ degrees and no wind.  Arg.

I got home and jumped right in the shower…since I was covered in thistles that were burning my skin all over the place!  Of course I had my staple cereal and chocolate chip snack…times two.  I walked 12 miles today!

1005110013

Wait, scratch that; I don’t have to justify my consumption (to myself mostly…I’m always having to do that)!  I wanted it, I had it…and besides, my appetite was finally kicking in.

Since I had two pieces of sheepherder’s bread afterwards too.  Oh carbs I love you.

I headed off to the grocery store to get supplies for dinner…well, the fresh stuff at least.

But I was most excited for what I concocted with my chickpeas and some marinade rub…almost like roasted chickpeas, but microwaved!

1005130014

I just tossed the chickpeas with a little bit of water and a sprinkle of this Grill Mates Marinade and presto!  Instantly flavored chickpeas!  I’m totally doing this more often, and with other beans for stuff like burritos that I might not want say…salsa in/on!  I’m sorry, but I thought I was a genius when this occurred…maybe not.

I had it atop a nice fresh salad full of tomato and cucumbers…nom nom.

1005130016

And on the side I had some fresh strawberries and about 2/3 of a mango that escaped getting completely frozen in my fridge…thank god I’m moving into my apartment: real fridge means no crazy freezing…or so I’d hope.

Now I’m chilling out, trying to find a dress to wear to my besties/roommates Henna Wedding party this Saturday, along with all the goodies I want to get at TJ’s tomorrow…so much to do, so little freak’n time!  AGG!

Suggestions on where to get a nice dress?  I was thinking of getting that one from Express that I showed you all a bit ago that I was going to wear to Ryan’s restaurant opening (which, btw, if you’re in Key West check it out!  It’s called Taku!).  Maybe Forever 21?  I don’t know…I’m so bad with dresses.  Help out this fashionably challenged lady…

I always look an Anthropologie dresses, but I almost never buy them...

I would be feeling a sandwich thin in the desert either. I think it would parch my mouth!

Hi pie!! I don't know if you have an H&M by you but I was there yesterday and they have TONS of cute dresses! Hope you find what you're looking for :)

Sounds like you have had quite a long week!

Love the chickpea idea - sounds so simple.

I also like Ann Taylor loft for some cute dresses - I just got one there for $35!

The only sunflower butter that's tasted right to me was homemade. And I used LOTS of salt

Your job looks amazing! It must be so fun to get to be outside all day long. I'm jealous-I have to be in school.
Dresses.....
I love Anthropologie's styles and designs, but not their prices. You could look in sale, you might just get lucky.
I would check TJ Maxx or Marshalls. I always seem to find great discount stuff there. Or, there is an online store called Mod Cloth which like kinda like Forever 21 which would be another option. Good luck and your eats look so good! I love love love chickpeas!

I would echo the Loft recommendation (I used to work there- its most of my wardrobe) and I LOVE White House Black Market! They always have great dresses. Look at the sale items first at both places though ;)

12 miles of walking? You're a beast, that cereal was well deserved for sure!! Forever 21 has cute stuff but it NEVER holds up in the long run, so I'd go for something with a little better quality...Express, Ann Taylor Loft, and even the sale section at J.Crew has really great stuff!

Woohoo! Enjoy your weekend, lady!

I don't know if the sale is going on still (or if there's one near you) but last week all dresses at Ann Taylor LOFT (some really cute!) were on sale for 40% off.

Sounds like you're gonna be very busy this weekend!!!

I bet the sun you're out in each day goes a long way towards making you feel extra tired and worn out.

I LOVE the idea of using marinades on chickpeas - I would've NEVER thought of that. I need to try it out now.

happy weekend - hopefully you find some "you" time in there :)

those chickpeas sound awesome!!

my favorite places to get dresses are H&M, Forever 21, Banana Republic (ESPECIALLY if you have an outlet nearby), and White House Black Market...though I did just get a cute one from Express. Good luck!

I'd say Express. I don't shop their very often because of the prices but I LOVE their clothes!
Congrats on the apartment!
Wow girl, that heat must be INTENSE! I know that when I'm that hot, I just do NOT want to eat. Something about it completely takes your appetite away.
Love ya girl!

Joshua Tree is one of my favorite places to get lost. The light there is unlike any other I've encountered..
