The weekend that is…not anything else I can think of…should I be worried?!
Anyhow, what a great weekend! I only had one slip up in my head but otherwise everything was good! It happened, I know it did, it passed and now it’s time to look forward!
Alas, I met up with a wonderful blog reader, Kristina in Bakersfield who has been reading my blog basically from the beginning! It’s so crazy when I think about…people knowing all the things I’ve done over the years and I’ve never met them! LOL!
So, we wanted to meet up for Sushi near TJ’s but they’re closed for lunch on Saturdays so she found a cute little Thai place close to her house and we had our lunch there instead!
I ended up ordering the Ginger Meal with Tofu:
And she got the Eggplant Meal with Tofu also. I definitely liked her dish more than mine. The eggplant was DELITE!
Here’s my plate…times two.
And then because I was in town and Kristina grew up there, I had to ask if there was a favorite fro-yo place in the area. Granted one just opened in my small town where I live but it’s still getting up on it’s feet (ie it doesn’t have PB fro yo yet. Egagg!) so I had to get some while I was in town.
We googled away and found a spot that she used to frequent called Go Daddy’s!
I loved the color scheme…though when I thought more about it it reminded me of Barney. LOL.
Um, I’ll give your four guesses what was in this mess…any takers?
Of course there’s PB, and Cookies and Cream, and Vanilla, and Chocolate. I don’t do the tart stuff, at least not that often.
I stopped by a few grocery stores (ie TJ’s and Fresh and Easy…only places I like to go!) and headed home for an afternoon of…ripping apart my magazines. I was tearing out the recipes and workouts to save in my menagerie of binders for all those things!
Dinner finally came and truthfully, I wasn’t happy with it. Wasn’t really what I wanted at all because I had no idea, so I was left emotionally unsatisfied. Working on that. Alas, it consisted of a big mess of salad parts and tempeh cooked in some marinara with extra basil.
I was excited for the cherry tomatoes I tossed in there though. I don’t buy them often because of the $$ but these were on clearance at F&E so I couldn’t pass it up.
I also had an ear of corn on that side that seriously needed some butter. I need to get some…
And then the damage was done with these babies…but I don’t even want to recollect about what happened. I’m not denying the action that occurred (which I won’t specify) but I don’t want to dwell on it anymore.
Let’s just say I ended the night with a good cry that has been building up for quite some time. It’s amazing how much crying can make you feel that much better…or just help you fall asleep!
I was up at 6.30 ready to rock the day away! What did I have planned?! My first LONG RUN in OVER A MONTH! I know right, I can’t believe it either! Time has just gotten away from me and well, you guys all know how my job works so I have no energy at the end of the day for anything exercise related really!
I downloaded a few new songs, swallowed down a quick 1/2 piece of bread w/ a little pb and ran out the door! 8 1/4 miles and 1:14 minutes later I walked the last mile home (I simply couldn’t take the hills anymore…how did I forget that I live in a mountain community and therefore will have to run mountains!? That and I was simply exhausted, and dehydrated to the max!)
And being funny crazy like I am, I ran to the apartment, ripped off all my electronics and shoes and ran down to the pool to jump into it, FREEZING COLD!!!! ARG!!! That was certainly a surprise since last time I swam in it it was warm.
Then I ripped off my tank top, laid out in my shorts and sports bra, and tanned a bit. Poor body is lacking sun in so many places because I’m covered up in the desert!
I cleaned up and thawed out, only to drink something cold again! I’m sorry, but I’m on a smoothie kick and can’t get enough of them! This one was seriously awesome though! I’ve been wanting to try some protein powders to see how they would sustain me and this morning I tried a Vanilla Spiru-tein packet with a frozen banana, blueberries, spinach and USVAB.
Damn this was tasty! It went great and didn’t have an overpowering sweetness which I’m always worried about with protein/whey powders. I have a few other flavors by them so I’m excited to try the others. I also had a cup of PB Panda Puffs to have some grains…well, they’re gluten free but you get the picture. I needed crunch!
I ate this really late (ok, 11 isn’t very late but for breakfast it was!) so there was lots of time in between to catch up on Real House Wives and watch Valentine’s Day that I bought yesterday. So cute (though Taylor Swift was HORRIBLE! I wanted to ring her little neck and get her off the screen the whole time!) and made me wish I had a boy to swoon over me. Boo. Soon enough! Maybe…
I settled on a classic for lunch, but not without the mandatory farmer’s market fruit! White Peach and Cherries anyone?
GRILLED CHEESE! Ok, actually, my father would be ashamed to call me his daughter because I made it this way, but totally done in the toaster! But wait, it gets better!
The bread was actually frozen, so I toasted it to thaw out and toast, then it wasn’t hot enough to melt the cheese after it was done burning itself so I had to zap if for a few seconds! Oh the shame! LOL.
I still love you dad…I’ll do it right next time. But I was hangry.
I saw Meghann have cherry tomatoes and cheese as a snack the other day so with the cheese I didn’t use in the sandwich with my artichoke hearts, I had on the side.
Tasty tasty! This cheese was so much better than the crappy other stuff I was using the from the grocery store. I picked up some Sharp Cheese from NZ and it melted great and was nice and well, SHARP! Nom nom! Def not my Cabot though…
I took a nap because well, who wouldn’t after that run and did some much needed reading…I can’t wait to share all the things I’ve been learning from the book I’ve been reading!
Dinner came around and I finally had something I’ve been wanting forever. Sadly it came out nothing like I wanted it to, but will suffice for now until I can try again, which I have a feeling will be very soon since I still want it, the way I really want it!
I started off with a champagne mango I forgot about in my fridge…
And then proceeded to make my potato hash! Or potatoes o’ brian! Whatever you want to call them!
They look good, but were missing something…I had garlic, onions, bell pepper, potatoes, olive oil, salt, pepper, and rosemary in there…but there was just something…butter? We’ll find out next time I suppose!
There are also Five TJ’s Soy Nuggets on that plate but the picture I took was totally blurry for some reason. No matter, you’ve seen them before so yeah.
Now I’ve had a handful of TJ’s unsalted PB Pretzel Nuggets and am off to get some stuff done for work before a long hot day tomorrow! Whew!
I hope you all had a great weekend! I can’t wait to hear about all of them!!!

the potatoes look delicious. glad you got a good cry out - sometimes it's what we need, huh?
Just wanna let you know that I think you are one of the most honest and beautiful bloggers. I've been doing some destructive eating lately too..it's almost like apathy. :( But today's a brand new day. Great job on your run and finding a new friend close by!
Hey sweetie,
I can hear the struggle in the voice of your writing. Stay strong. You can do this. You will get through this. You are strong. You are beautiful. You GO girl!
xo
Congrats on the run!!!!!! :D Yay! I am a recent convert to Spirutein...so good. And so cool to have a blogger meet-up- it's always so strange to meet people in real life who know so much about you and yet you've never "met". I feel like I know more about blog friends than my real life friends sometimes!
Totally hear you on the "not sure what I am craving"/unsatisfied thing...I come up against that time and time again. A work in progress, for sure.
Have a fab Monday!
Wow, that's a lot of yummy looking food for one weekend. Mine was not nearly as exciting. The Thai food looks especially delicious. So cool to meet up with a blog reader like that! :)
ah! I lovee TJ's soy nuggets- i haven't found a replacement for them yet- but when I buy them, they go FAST!! :)
I am SOOOO jealous of the frozen yogurt shop. I cant seem to find anywhere in my area that serves frozen yogurt.
I had a very good weekend, I saw SATC 2 with a friend and got in a good couple workouts that really helped with my stress!! :)
It was so nice to meet you on Saturday! :) We'll definitely have to meet up again soon.
That smoothie looks very good, as does your lunch!
