Are you ready?
Are you ready for it?!
Ok, I don’t have a cliff hanger…or something to end a cliff hanger…just that, well, I fell down a cliff today.
So I guess I technically wasn’t a hanger, I was a faller. Haha.
Anyhow, besides that exciting part of my day there wasn’t much else too it. Ok, that’s a lie. There was the town farmers market which rocked, but I'll get to that.
I’ve been craving cold and crunchy things lately when I wake up, and by wake up I mean my alarm goes off at 5.25 and I’m starving by 6.05 on the dot. So I shove this into my mouth with eagerness:
My cereal mess. This will never get old. I love thee Kashi Cereals…you make my world go round.
We did some very very hilly transects in the morning for about 2 hrs and stopped for a snack. I was famished.
[[ Have I mentioned that throughout a 8 hr work day (in which about 6.5 of it is walking transects) I gulp down about 100 oz of liquids (I mix it up with about 3 bottles of water and one of some sort of sugary drink like Sobe Light or some sort of tea mix) and am still left with swollen fingers and a very dry face! ]]
I was eager for my snack as I had been dreaming about it since yesterday: Banana Bread with Justin’s Chocolate Hazelnut Butter.
Food gasm.
And no matter how much I fought it, I was still starving. I busted out the emergency resources: Favorite Clif Bar EVER
All in all, this kept me full through about 3.5 more miles of walking and getting home to finish the day!
I wasn’t even hungry for lunch…well, until I got home at 2.30 and was ravenous! I made a wrap with an Original Flatout Wrap, hummus, avocado, tomato, artichoke, cucumber and red leaf lettuce. It sadly got soggy after sitting in the car all day, but still edible! I accompanied it with an orange and a very tart plucot. What’s a plucot? A cross between a plum and apricot. Didn’t strike my fancy, since I hate apricots. Yuck.
I was excited for it being Thursday because well, it’s that much closer to Friday and FARMER’S MARKET!!! So much stuff to pick from!!!
I was excited for my purchases at the market, because I got it all for $6 bucks! Yay!
I tweeted that I purchased these goods (basil, chard, broccolini, baby bok choy and squashes) and didn’t know what to do with them! Thank goodness for twitter, for I found my idea for dinner!
STIR FRY WITH TEMPEH!!!
Nom nom nom…
I combined two garlic cloves with about a 1/4 an onion in sesame seed oil and added the tempeh after they had softened and browned a bit. Then I steamed the broccolini and bok choy on top of it all and BAM! DINNER!
But wait for it!!!
The official start to summer:
I can rest in peace now. Soooooo tasty.
And then I got bored and ate some trail mix. I’m going to admit it on here because well, I have no one to confess it to and I need someone to know that I ate this out of boredom. No, it’s not going to kill me, but I need to find things to do other than eat when I get bored, or lonely. As much as I love my new home, I have no friends here so it’s lonely. Hopefully that will be fixed soon; somehow, someway.
In the mean time…I’m taking in the beauty of my surroundings to calm my nerves.
Happy FRIDAY!!! Who has some weekend plans they want to share!!!
I’ve got a blogger reader meetup at some time this weekend I’m excited for! And some RUNNING!!! YAY!!!!

what a score on that produce at the farmer's market. and the banana bread sandwich - insane!
just to let you know, I moved to a LITTLE LITTLE LITTLE town to be with my bf 2 years ago. I'm still lonely and STILL eat when i'm bored. :( It's gotten better so hang in there. BTW I wish my lil town had a farmer's market! Glad you survived. ;) ps. is justin's chocolate butter good?!
Happy Friday!!!
The farmer's market looks great! And so does that banana bread sandwich :)
Glad you're okay! Falling like that sounds like something I would do - I'm such a klutz!
glad you survived the fall! That farmers market looks great - and the stir fry you made too!
You will make friends soon enough - it takes time to get to know an area! Maybe try to find a running club or something...
Oh no, you fell! I'm glad you're okay--that looks like an ugly place to take a spill.
You hate apricots, but you like peaches? I think they're similar in taste and texture.
I can't believe you actually fell down a cliff. Wow girl... glad you are OK though!!! Craziness. Your job is dangerous! :)
The stir fry looks fabulous!!! Baby bok choy is absolutely AMAZING!
I still haven't had fresh watermelon.. that really needs to happen soon though!
I eat when I'm bored too.. Probably not the best way to deal with emotions but you know, it happens.
Love ya girl!
You really work SO hard at your job its amazing! I can't believe how much you have to drink to keep yourself properly hydrated. The farmers market looks awesome (humane society!!!). Bok choy is awesome in stir fry. Not much planned yet for this weekend and I am excited about that
Is it weird that I LIKE soggy wraps and sandwiches? Okay I admit and accept that I'm weird :)
I'm glad you survived that fall, OUCH. Were you hurt?!
Those surroundings really do look lovely. I eat when I'm bored/lonely too, don't worry. Don't feel lonely though. HUGS!
You fell down a cliff? YIKES! Sounds like you're OK, though.
Great stir fry with the market finds and I need to get me some watermelon ASAP!
PS...I hope there's spots to pee with all that water you have to drink....but then again, maybe your body absorbs it???
1. i adore watermelon. i'm so jealous.
2. come visit STL when you get lonely, i'll show you a good time :)
3. have an AWESOME weekend!
ahh falling= story of my life, so don't feel bad!!
Oh nice! Those are definitely some of my favorite clif bars too - that and the mint chocolate! Yum! $6 is such a steal too for all those farmers market goodies!
Hope you are okay after taking a tumble down that cliff!
I would be so hungry after working your hardcore job! The farmers' market looks amazing, as does your stir fry!
No exciting weekend plans for me. I'm @ home right now, and all of my friends have moved away to other states, so I'm just relaxing with the fam.
i hope your okay after your tumble!!
kashi cereals = total love. I also like nature's path ceraels. really crunchy.
ahhh tempeh stirfrys are divine!
hey beautiful. i feel the same way you do about eating when you're bored because there isnt a whole lot to do. i moved back to chicago from college town a few weeks ago but i feel like i have no friends here anymore after being away for 4 years. i dont start work for another month and now im just bumming around because people that i do know are at work during the day. but with work and all, im sure you'll meet tons of new people.
glad the fall wasn't a bad one. i cant believe you walk so much in a day! no wonder you are hungry. good thing you have all those awesome snacks :) mmm i love that clif bar too.
i wish i could buy something from every stand at the farmers market. i love the taste, idea and just everything about the local produce and foods.
Omg, that's scary that you fell. Glad you are ok. The farmers market looked like it was a lot of fun. I've never been to one before. I wish they had them out where I live. Maybe they do and I just don't know about it.
Your job sounds so awesome...tiring, difficult, and stressful, but awesome. It's so cool that you're doing something so active and interesting, instead of sitting in an office!! I'm glad the fall didn't hurt you, and that you had a White Chocolate Mac Clif bar to make you feel better. Best flavor ever, I agree :) Hope you have a wonderful weekend dear!!
Sometimes a nice trip to the farmer's market is the perfect way to start a weekend. Love how you incorporated so many fun things into your stir-fry! I seem to have trouble eating hot foods when it's this humid though. Weird.
Hope the meet-up is fun and you make some new friends soon!
