You Didn’t Remember?

It’s ok, because I didn’t either!
I totally bypassed my TWO YEAR BLOGGING ANNIVERSARY!!!
It’s actually been over two years since Trying to Heal actually started and I can’t thank you for all the support you have given me over that time.  You all have helped me through so many hard and bad times with my ED and seen me through my crazy adventures with jobs and environmental life!  I hope you’ve enjoyed reading the blog through all of these events and to thank you for everything, you know I’m hosting A GIVEAWAY!!!
My nice little package is going to include:
How can you win all these goodies?  There are FOUR ways to enter:
  1. Leave a comment about what you’d like to see more of on the blog…Vegetarian recipes? ED research? Environmental facts?
  2. Leave a comment telling me you’ve followed me on Twitter: TryingToHeal
  3. Tweet about the Giveaway and leave a comment telling me you did:
-Check out @TryingToHeal ‘s 2 year Blog Anniversary Giveaway!: http://bit.ly/c5jOHz
  4. Link back to the giveaway on your blog and leave a comment letting me know you did!
I’ll choose a winner next Monday, July 5th!!!  I love you all for all your help and support!  MWAH!
~~
It was so hot today, over 105F out in the desert and when you’re walking super nasty hills with very little wind and having to wear pants and gators (to protect from rattlesnakes!) it doesn’t leave you feeling well…your best, to say the least.
I knew it was going to be a hard morning so I fueled up with a reliable staple that I haven’t had in a while:
  • Kashi Sunshine
  • Kashi Heart to Heart
  • Banana
  • TJ’s PB
 CA2010 002
I loved this picture because of the sunlight…so pretty.  Too bad the best lighting is on the carpet.  :)
We only hiked 5 miles this morning, but they were 5 very hard miles.  In between the first and second transect I snacked on a Blackberry Oatmeal Bar for some energy…
We ended up leaving the field a bit early to get work done at the house and to get out of the heat…I just could work properly, or function at all really so it was nice to cool off at home.  Because it was so hot I had absolutely no appetite and decided to wait and eat lunch at home.  It was what i had brought out into the field, but I swapped out the crackers for a few pieces of sourdough bread.
CA2010 004
After watching some hulu I snacked on an apple and a bowl of trail mix knowing I would need the energy for a run later in the evening.  After getting some rest I headed out for a 4.5 mile run that I finished in 39 min at a pace of 8.45!  I was a bit worried since I’m running a 5k race in town this weekend, but I’m sure I’m going to be fine!  I wonder how many people are going to be running it, since it’s such a small town!  We’ll see on Sunday!
You can bet I was famished by the time I got home, so I had made a nice quick and TJ filled dinner!
Well, the cantaloupe wasn’t from TJ’s, but you know…
CA2010 005
I made up a bowl of TJ’s Instant Mushroom Rice Noodle Soup but bulked it up with a few handfuls of TJ’s Broccoli Slaw and a 1/3 of a package of TJ’s Tempeh.
CA2010 009
It actually didn’t taste too bad!  I added all the seasoning packet that came but not the oil package and don’t think I was missing anything really.  Overall very tasty!
Now I’m off to play with Honey and get some rest!  I haven’t been sleeping well with the heat so I’m going to try and get some extra sleep tonight!

I'd LOVE to see some of your recipes; you always make yummy-looking food! It's also fun to hear about your job, so that would be cool, too.

I want to start a blog as well but have trouble figuring out what I'd focus on since I'm interested in so many things. I think you've found your niche, though, and have been enjoying your blog for a long time. Happy anniversary!

I'd love to see more ED research. Although, it's not like we don't know enough about our disorder already...but, I supposed just ED in general from your POV, because I think it's always interesting to read other people's perspectives and dealings with their personal ED situations. Helps me a lot on my own.

:)

I love how you write how you are feeling, because I too feel that way sometimes but I keep it bottled up inside. I wish I had more courage like you to let my feelings out. If I had to pick something to see more of, I would have to say, healthy but cost friendly recipes. (i'm a college student! haha)

Thanks!

I really enjoy the relationships you bring out between your jobs/love of running and your ED...showing the physical, mental and emotional sides of those relationships. I also really love the side notes because they give a glimpse into your mind and show what living with an ED is like for you. You work through a lot of tough topics in your blog, and your honesty and straightforwardness are amazing. The recipes are fun to read too, but it's really those first that I enjoy the most...

emilydianne said...

Posted your link to my twitter account (eda062)! Your recipes are absolutely fantastic and I really love hearing about your job - so I guess more about that. There's a ton of bloggers out there, but on an anniversary it's important to celebrate what makes your blog unique. What do you want to do more of? Focus on that and your followers will love it!

I've been trying to find a time to make your berry chocolate bread - seriously, you would think the life of an unemployed college grad wouldn't be so busy all the time :) Happy bloggiversary!

Hi, I'm a new reader and though I've never commented, I've enjoyed reading about your time out in the field and your yummy eats :) I'm on a biology/environmental studies path in college and though field work may not be for me, I like being able to see what it's like! I actually don't know what I want to do quite yet once I graduate, but hopefully something to do with my interest in the environment and possibly design!

Anywho, that was a long intro, ha. I would love to see more environmental facts and your career experiences!
