Is it Monday again? I think it might be, because things just won’t go my way! I sure hope it starts to get better as this week goes by because I don’t want bad things to happen come HLS this weekend!!!
Knowing that I wasn’t going to be able to work until after I got my new tire I scheduled a run with my running buddy early in the morning before it got too hot. We decided to run the 10k course for the race that’s taking place in two weeks in town and holy moly, it will not in any way be easy. This was filled with hills! Long ones to boot! There goes the idea of running it twice to get in the 12 miler I want to do for training that weekend…you know I’m gonna seek flatter land! I’m a wimp!
Anyhow, my friend’s PR for a 10k has been 1:17 for over a year or so and I set out secretly to get her to break it, TODAY. We got to the top of the course at a good clip for her pace and I pushed her to get back just a bit faster than going up there (which was mostly uphill). We came across what would be the finish and BAM! 1:12:26 baby!!! I helped her clip 5 minutes off her PR!! Now I just wonder if I can clip anything off of my PR of like…53 minutes, from many many years ago. Yeah right, not when I haven’t been doing any speed training. What a joke, but we’ll see.
I returned home to clean up, got ready for work and ate my breakfast I prepared while waiting for my friend to show up that morning. Just a mix of strawberries and peaches with some Dannon Vanilla GY topped off with Uncle Sam’s Cereal (Giveaway to come soon!)
I then headed off to get my tire replaced only to find out they lost my order slip and didn’t order my tire. DAMNIT! I needed that thing to be able to work! I calmed down and took it as it was and made sure they were going to have it tomorrow or I would be royally pissed. Lets put it this way, if I don’t get that tire tomorrow, I can’t do two days of work and get home in time to catch my flight to make it to Chicago to HLS. Uh huh, you read me right. So you better keep your fingers crossed with me on that tire!!!
I returned home disappointed I wouldn’t get any work done and be able to go home a day earlier, missing my doctors appointment and spending time with my family. I was still hungry (or thirsty?) from the run so I snacked on some grapes until I got hungry for lunch later on. In comes…the same sandwich I’ve been eating for the past week. Yep, sorry to be boring. I’m trying to eat up leftovers before I leave and everything spoils horribly.
And then I had this itch for something sweet. So I went for it and had some ice cream. Oh yeah, it was tasty. Topped with a raspberry and chocolate muffin.
I spent the afternoon finally catching up on Goggle Reader (it was backlogged to the 29th of July!) and watching shows I’ve missed having to go to bed so early every night. I ended up munching on a few handfuls of unsalted pb pretzel nuggets and some trail mix throughout the afternoon…not such a good idea for this belly. It’s been off lately, as has my head…which has been pounding for three days straight. ARG.
Dinner was simple and veggie filled as I feel like my body still needs a bit of a detox from that food and wine festval last weekend! And since I know there will be some indulging going on this weekend at HLS! I just mixed together a bunch of vegetables and hummus, with some corn on the cob to make a giant salad to get some roughage in there.
[Insert picture of lame boring salad and corn on the cob here]
Sadly I have to wait until mid morning tomorrow to get my tire and it’s kind of a blessing in disguise as I have to meet a coworker tonight to pass something off to them for work, at 10PM. That’s freak’n past my bedtime and if I don’t get at least 7 hrs of sleep for work…hah, I’m a basketcase you don’t want to mess with. Ick.

That totally sucks about your tire but I hope by now it's fixed and all is well.
Maybe it happened so you would have a little down time "you time" to relax and catch up :)
