I swear, if you have one place you want to visit in your life, you need to get to the Ferry Market on Saturday mornings.
Absolutely. Amazing.
But before all the natural beauty and tasting started we shot off to the piers and did a 4.5 mile run. I took my time so that my knee injury wouldn’t flare up. I think it’s helping running on flat land instead of hills.
I was famished afterwards but with four girls in a room it takes a while to shower and get ready. I snacked on an apple before we headed off to the market.
Meghann was on a hunt for some tasty scones so before anything else, we headed on a hunt for some! We ended up at Frog Hollow Farms and were overwhelmed with their world famous pears, jams, chutneys and baked goods.
How could anyone resist these beauties?
They had an outside stand along with a market/bakery instead the Ferry Building and with the suggestions of the head farmer at the stand, we decided to get some scones his wife was in charge of making. Meghann and I ended up splitting the Date Orange and Cherry Almond Scone.
They were each about the size of my palm so it was perfect to fill our bellies with yumminess
I tried the Cherry Almond first and was instantly love. It was delicate and buttery, the kind that just melts in your mouth. And now that I’m a huge fan of cherries, I was all over this. But in a way it almost tasted like amaretto. Weird.
I then tried the Orange Date and it was ok. I liked that the orange wasn’t super overwhelming and you could taste the scones and dates too, but it was just kinda eh. I definitely liked the Cherry Almond better.
And of course I sampled some of their famous pears.
Now for me to say a pear tastes great is rare, since I’m not a fan. The texture kinda bothers me, but this one was sooooo good!
We wandered around for like 3 hours, catching up with other bloggers and tasting lots of different samples. Definitely a bunch of fruit in there, but didn’t get pictures of everything!
After a rough night of sleep, running and walking around for so long, I am ready for a nap! Too bad we have a huge tasting pavilion in about an hour where we are going to eat so much food I won’t know what to do with myself!
Until tonight!!!
