You are finally here! 30 days until 2011!!! (Did you realize that New Years Day is 1-1-11? And we’ll also have a 1-11-11 and 11-11-11!!!!???? So fun!)
Before I get to the rest of my day, who wants to know who won the $25 gift certificate to Oh Nuts! for the holidays!!!
Congrats Squiggle Floey! Shoot me an email at trying[dot]to[dot]heal[at]gmail[dot]com and you should be getting your certificate asap!!! I hope you enjoy the package you pick! Oh Nuts! has awesome products!
Anyhow, today was unlike any other. Oats, apples, cinnamon, vanilla, pb. You probably read my mind. And don’t be surprised if that’s what it is tomorrow too. Go figure, right?
I spent the morning wandering fields trying to find some owls and after a heart-felt attempt, I headed back to the desert to look for other birds…but wait! I saw a lifer!!!

(Source)
What’s a lifer you ask? I had never heard the term before I started birding but essentially it’s a bird you’ve never seen before in you life. In this case, it was a juvenile Ferruginous Hawk. My oh my was I in birding heaven!
After an exciting morning I had to have something to eat, so I ate not one, but two pieces of my pear-ginger bread. So.freak’n.awesome. Will share recipe soon. Or I might be conceded and keep it to myself…I kid, I kid…
Many miles later it was back to the fields…where I noshed on my laughing cow and hummus veggie sandwich with carrot sticks.
All along trying for a very long time trying to figure out what a certain flock of birds was…I still am not convinced what my birding buddy told me it was…such is a mystery…
I ran to pick up groceries before Whit showed up and lo and behold the boy holds the key to my foodie heart as he arrived with TJ’s Olive Oil Popcorn…why popcorn? Because somehow, my damned microwave refuses to heat up enough to pop the stuff. Kills me to the core. I love popcorn!
I was famished before he showed up so I started on a stir-fry dinner with tempeh. It included lots of veggies like bok choy, onions, bell pepper, bamboo shoots and bean sprouts. It needed mushrooms, carrots and broccoli. And more soy sauce. Oh well, each meal is a test of it’s own!
And then Whit showed me the Rocky Road Clusters he brought. Duh I had some; two blocks. Couldn’t really taste the marshmallows or peanuts though (and since when is rocky road w/ peanuts?! I thought it was walnuts?! Am I wrong!?)
December Goals
It seems to be going around in blog world to set some goals for December and I definitely think it’s something I need to set up for myself. I’ve got a race in a month and a half, so I gotta keep myself accounted for!
- Make sure to drink at least 4 water bottles of water a day. Being out in the field in the cold takes more water away than I realize!
- Put sunscreen on my face every single morning. It may not be summer, but I still need to protect my skin! I already have crows feet because I squint so much in the sun and I’m only 25!
- Run outside at least once a week. I may have a pass to the gym, but I want to have some outdoor running in there too, no matter how cold it is…
- Try a new meal and baking recipe each week. The boy wants this one. He likes my baking, and cooking. Hehe.
- Do not stress over Christmas eating. Enjoy seeing family and focus on having fun, instead of the need to burn it all off. Which leads to…
- Keep up with the Intuitive Eating. Which entails eating dinners that are more sufficient because I always skimp out trying to save on calories. And it kicks me in the face after dinner because I end up eating more snacks that should have just been in my dinner.
- Buy some nicer/more girly clothes for myself. I know it’s the holiday season, but I should use it and the sales to my advantage so I can boost my style/clothing confidence.
Do you have any goals for December? If you do, I’m sure you can accomplish them!!!

Congrats on your bird sighting! I once saw a Peregrine (sp?) Falcon!!
Those are some great goals! My goal for December is to spend more time with my friends and to do a heck load of baking for Christmas, of course ;)
i need to be more forgiving of myself!! Xmas is the time of year I hit a low cause I "fall" into all the sweet temptations...so I need you and whit to bake healthy treats for me...asap! :)
Oooh, pear and ginger sounds incredible!!! Can't wait to see the recipe. Good luck on the goals...I think mine would be to get these frustrating three pounds off for good...ever since February I've been losing/gaining them and I can tell by the way my jeans fit one week and not the next! GRR!
Haha, I totally didn't realize the New Year's date...that will be awesome!! And I thought Rocky Road WAS peanuts...though I don't eat it that often, so I wouldn't know that well.
Awesome goals. I'm with you on #1, #4 and #6. Constant work in progress, right?
I need to work on #6... I always snack so much and kept thinking it was unecessary. But lately I've realized it's just because my actual meals are sucky and just aren't cutting it! Ha ha Here's to more satisfying and dense meals!! :)
Lady, you need to share that bread recipe, it looks so good!!!
Love your goals! Mine are to remember to take my calcium supplements (I ALWAYS forget), make time to exercise, plan in advance so I have healthy meals and don't have to rely on what I can pick up.
Yay! :) I e-mailed you !
Congratulations Squiggle Floey!!!
I need to set some December goals... hmmmm.... let me think about it and I'll get back to you. ;)
You've listed some awesome goals! I should make my own list but every time I think about it I get overwhelmed! And I didn't realize we'd have so many "1's" in 2011....NEAT!
