Mother Nature, PLEASEEEEEE…I’m tired of winter. Bring me the 80 degrees that I love? Although the weather man said you might be providing that next week…
At this rate though, I’m more worried about Sunday morning than anything else. Running in the cold is killer on my body.
Please keep the rain away from Sunday…at least that will help out a little bit. Or I might turn into one of the people that got hypothermia after the LA Marathon last weekend. We don’t want to hear about that now do we? I sure don’t want to experience it! What are your tips for racing in the rain, in the cold? Remember, I’m a shivering fool and get cold when it’s 65*. Yep, that weak-sauce.
Anyhow, it snowed this morning. We got about an inch. It was snowing in my cereal mess of a breakfast:
Cheerios, Kashi H2H, Go Lean Crunch, Strawberries and USVAB (Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze).
Did nothing for me. I guess I wanted something else but couldn’t figure out what. So I had a handful of chocolate edamame. And when that does nothing for my tastebuds, that means there’s something really wrong with me. Uh oh.
Anyhow, I worked the morning away in my “office” (ie my living room desk positioned facing away from the TV; helps A LOT) and after running around and getting last minute things done for my race weekend, I finally settled on lunch.
Again, no idea what I wanted. Leftover tortillas from last night were just sitting there on the counter so I made a hummus veggie wrap; pretty boring really. Maybe that’s why I had a craving afterwards…
Salt. I wanted salt. I think my body knows I’m going to be running long this weekend, and since I lose an INSANE amount of salt when I run, it’s gearing up. Too bad everything with salt makes me bloat…means I’ll be doing a 5:1 water:salt ratio the next two days!
At least they were organic. I guess.
Now I’m off to finish packing and get ready for OAKLAND!!!!
T-minus TWO DAYS TO THE 1/2 MARATHON!!!

Good luck with the weather! I live right near Oakland and it has been awful this week. Pouring so hard I think it's hailing, crazy wind, thunder, lightning, actual hail... I'll think good thoughts for you! Best of luck with the 1/2 marathon.
I am SO bad at cold weather running. I lose feeling in my fingers and start to cry. My solution is a treadmill if possible!
GOOD LUCK this weekend!
Good luck this weekend!!
Seems like it's colder then normal everywhere :( It's cold up here in Canada too, this morning when I woke up it was -16 Celsius with the windchill... definitely an indoor running day for me!
We had snow again yesterday! This winter needs to be over - it is spring time!
Hmm...running in the cold. I've definitely had days this winter where I wore my long underwear over my running tights and under my rainpants for an extra layer of warmth. And wearing something around my neck helps me a lot too...a neck warmer or scarf of some sort (neck warmers/ear warmer headbands are easier to run with than a scarf). Smartwool socks for my feet (or some other good, light hiking sock). Mittens (keep the fingers warmer than gloves) and a good hat. Good luck with the half!!
That lunch looks FABULOUS!!! Fingers crossed for good weather over the weekend!
GOTCHA! Thanks for spelling out USVAB for me...hehehe :)
GOOD LUCK AT YOUR RACE! Kick some booty girl :)
Hi there! I have been reading your blog for months now, but I finally got a blog myself so now I can comment.
Anyway, ughhh the weather. It's been raining here for weeks straight. I'm sick of it. Hopefully it straightens out for you though. Good luck with the 1/2 marathon.
This last minute cold stuff is crazy! Hope it warms up where you are. All of your meals are so pictures perfect :) And I must get my hands on the chocolate edamame. BEST of luck at the half! Will be cheering you on from afar
I feel the same why, we've been getting solid winter weather for the last two weeks - enough! I have so many cute spring clothes I want to wear! Looks like the weather will be good for you for tomorrow thankfully! Good lunk on the half!
I definitely get that with salt too even though I don't run! I especially crave salt in the summer time because I'm sweating up a storm like WOAH!
xxx
"At least they were organic." -->Hahaha!
Nothing is right with the environment right now...I'd blame it for all the disasters going on in the world, too.
I hope the weather gets funky and it turns out to be unusually warm and amazing on your race day!!
